So vs a league 2 team he didn’t really impress or stand out.
I’d have expected him to build on his goal tally lastnight if I’m honest. That said if he was playing as the 1 up top on his own he may have done a load of unselfish running that the goals section won’t show | |

He is actually making some really nice runs behind defenders but we are guilty of not sliding that ball through quick enough. it then gets too tight and he is offside which is understandable given the pace he is going at ect.
Edwards was guilty of it a couple of times last night where the ball was on but just took a second too long and chance was gone / he was offside. You can see what we are trying to do with him, but we just need to slide that ball quicker and into the space behind. |  | | |

He was fine, but if anything happens to Ladapo and we are choosing between Jackson, TJJ and this Sheff U kid to lead the line for a decent chunk of the season we are really taking a big risk in such an important season
And Ladapo hasn't exactly been superb himself |  |

Good I thought. He didn’t have the best time of it on the ball, or get much service to work with, but his movement and threat off the ball to create space for others or to close down defenders was top-notch. And seemingly nothing Northampton could handle.
So a very good and necessary job for the team IMO. Ladapo still looks like our biggest central striking threat though. |  |

Funny though, I take it Joe is just another who is basing the work of the 9 as just scoring goals?
Jackson lead the line well last night, his runs left spaces for the likes of Aluko, Harness and Edwards to drive into. Probably why there are looking at this Sheff Utd youngster. [Post edited 31 Aug 2022 16:12]
