Hope he's all right. It was a pretty stupid challenge by him, it must be said.

Looked like he took one under the chin... Could be a damaged jaw?
Good old fashioned 50/50.. Showed a lot of bottle there, imo.
Ball looked pretty comfortable, for me. Hard to call between Fridge and Ball if Burgess is out, imo.

I’d be tempted to put Keogh in the middle and move wolf to the left against Wednesday

Looked like it was teeth to me. Davis was instantly panicked and pointing at his teeth as he pulled the physio on and he was spitting a lot of blood. Dentist may have some work to do.

So based on 20 minutes playing against a team who barely got in our half you're declaring Ball a hard call against Edmondson, someone who might not have started amazingly but was involved in most of our solid defensive displays last season.

That's before we even mention Keogh.

As hot takes go, it's right up there with the very hottest.

I'm not sure bottle is the word. He massively misjudged the tackle and went flying in from a long way away, got there too early and that's why the player ended up standing on his face.

Was trying to mop up a shocking pass from Davis that left him hopelessly short. Hopefully he's not out for too long. Been our best defender last couple of games.

That's not what he said though, he clearly was citing ability and not availability.

You've also ignored the part about Keogh.

Tbf I did forget keogh.. but he scares me.
On one hand you have a really experienced cb. Who's just come down from playing champ football

Yet his lack of pace scares the hell out of me against a sheff wed side.

Literally right in front of me and looked like a fractured eye socket from a knee impact.

Like another poster said was covering after another shiiite ball from Davis giving possession away.

It does seem a funny one how Edmundson has become out of favour so soon given most of us were worried silly when he was injured and suddenly unavailable last year.

Memories are short-term feckers that's for sure.

I have always argued burgess gives us better balance in a 3 than Fridge but loads claimed burgess was shiiite
But to put ball ahead of fridge as a replacement is just dumb

I get the balance argument but Burgess plays so much inside it's not much different to having the right foot of Edmundson there, in fact I've seen GE play more on his left foot than CB did tonight. Not a criticism, overall I think I'd have GE as first choice but there's not much in it at the moment.

Ball is quite versatile, and can play CD.... TBF I forgot about Keogh when I commented. So I guess it will be a toss up between Fridge and Keogh on Saturday. Unless we see a change in formation and go four at the back?... Never 100% know what KM has in mind game by game... Good thing is, we've got decent replacements in all positions these days.

Last night he played a few good passes out to Davis on the wing that had a bit of curl on them that a right footer couldn't have done. His ball playing has improved a lot since he's been here I think.

The Rovers player didn’t stand on his face, Burgess took a knee at full pelt to the nose/upper jaw area

I was paraphrasing, although I did think it was studs to the face at first look.

Looked awful getting a knee to the face at speed.

Sort of incident that, in rugby, would have seen a 10-minute head injury assessment off the pitch to make sure he wasn’t concussed. So a bit of a relief to see him not soldier on and the physios take him off – even if that was probably needed because of the blood and tissue damage.

He’s been great so a bit of a loss but with quality players like Edmundson or Keogh to come in we probably won’t notice too much of a difference overall.

Pronouns: He/Him

Could put Leigh in at LCB - meaning we would be fully balanced with him doing the JD role on the left - linking with Davis.

I doubt very much KM would actually do that but it would be fun to see

McK really likes to have WB options off the bench which would be the downside to this.
