Pompey crowd to be 28k+ - just remarkable 20:13 - Sep 15 with 3885 viewsunstableblue

To go into that game having taken 4 points and still top or able to take top would be remarkable

And a chance to finally turn it on at home in a big game in front of a big crowd!

Only a few seats remaining

Ah yeah but we've got to be careful what we wish for, we're a deluded bunch...

Said Chris Sutton when we we're playing hoofball under Mick Mac in front of 16k!

No real surprise that anyone connected with Norwich was enjoying Evans tying a hand behind our back.

Yeah, that.

But then I also suspect Sutton would be a c-unit even if he had never heard of Norwich.

Ironically, we were much better at attacking under Mick than we were the two blokes that followed him and the two blokes who preceded him.

I wonder if at this time of reflection whether Evans has acknowledged to himself that he was a total and utter failure here and took the club back twenty years.

Answering my own own question, probably not. Some Town fans still think he wasn’t to blame for the rot.

15k inc season tickets, who didn't go.

More like 11/12k bums on seats.

Probably only 12 - 13k on Saturdays and 10 or 11k on night games.

It was proper dire looking back.

if we manager to go up this year, i know its a league below, but you'll be able to pick out those that sat through those dogsht years.

infact even now, i passed a bloke on the stairs tuesday night, hes been a ST holder forever, and he said to me "this is fantastic, the football, just wow"

KMc will never truly know how happy the last year has made fans, watching some proper football

Worth mentioning that it's great winning despite the opposition and league you're in.

You don't lose the feeling do you? When that second goal went in the other night I wasn't immediately thinking

"yeah, but we're in League 1 and Bristol aren't exactly great"

I like watching entertaining football and I certainly like winning.

Maybe, maybe "careful what you wish for" can actually be forgotten.

On the subject of ex-Budgie summarisers, I was listening to R5 the other evening when Norwich were playing Brizzle, and they cut to the reporter at the game who gave a score update.

When they cut back to the main game's commentator, he pointed out that as well as Norwich going well in the Champ, Ipswich were top of the division in L1.

Dion Dublin (summariser in question) promptly cut in and said "I only heard one team then".

For a couple of seasons. Then he abandoned the high press, sacked off Stephen Hunt, and went "solid".

The last days under MM were soul destroying - I remember game after game sitting with my arms folded and never getting up out of my seat, things are better now !

That’s pushing it.

At least 4K of those came dressed as blue seats.

I think there are still thousands of tickets still to be released - not sure what they're waiting on.

I don't remember seeing any of the restricted view tickets for sale?

Also most of the sir alf upper (upper part) was never put up for sale - perhaps part of the donation tickets so they reserved these until nearer the time?

The worst thing was how many fans started to just give up, lose connection with the club, leave season tickets unfilled

Sadly some have never come back

But the good news is, we are now playing football temps Ipswich way and fans are streaming back

Don’t listen to the bollox about different levels and lack of funding

The bottom line is, no matter what level Ipswich Town play, Premier League to National League… we come to Portman Road to watch a team trying to entertain, to attack, not play anti-football
