Plymouth’s fixtures coming up 12:58 - Oct 5 with 4694 viewstextbackup

They don’t play a current top 8 team until they play us in the middle of Jan.

That says to me we need to keep pushing them until such point that their fixtures get tricky, where they might then fall away a bit

There's every chance they slip up against the lesser sides though. Whether they have the nous or depth to break down bottom half teams that play with a low block week in week out is up for debate.

I personally can't see them keeping it up. They've got a tiny squad and 1 or 2 injuries to key players and the wheels will fall off.

I can only see us getting better, given the depth we have in the squad.

They're a really good side. More than happy for us and them to run away with the top 2 :)

Potential for disruption with Whittaker and Mumba in january as well

That's certainly true. Will be interesting to see when those difficult fixtures in Jan / Feb comes around and they get a few injuries if they can last the pace.

I think Derby will come good under Warne tbh. Perhaps not top 2 good but he'll have them in the p/offs.

Ultimately we have to just focus on ourselves and keep winning.
The top few sides in this division will win a lot of games. Like last season I can see 80 points not being enough for the playoffs.

Sheff Weds next 7 fixtures are

Cheltenham H
Cambridge A
Lincoln A
Bristol Rovers H
Burton Albion H
Accrington A
Shrewsbury H

You can make a case for them winning the lot, but I'm sure they'll drop points.

We just need to press on with what we're doing..........COYB

same can be said for our next 7. but having that bit of a points gap is very handy at the mo

if only we'd taken 3 points off them!!

I was pleased they won last night - puts a few points between us and Sheff Wed who are more likely to be the bigger threat as the season goes on.

That said, Plymouth are very decent as well, and I'd love them to come up as well (behind us of course).

All their best players seem to be loans.

Would be interesting to know if those are season-long or likely to be recalled. I know I could look this up but I can't be bothered.

Spurs have a recall on Scarlett ( Know you're talking about Plymouth, but thought this is a great place to put this post)

KM needs to get on the blower, get the recall done and bring him here, 1 less for them and another great option for us........

I think there are only two all top 8 matches in the next five rounds of fixtures, until the end of October. Us v Derby and Bolton v Barnsley.

I find it quite interesting how many of our fans believe Plymouth are going to slip up, have we considered that they might be a very decent side themselves - as they proved against us - and might actually last the course? 2 points dropped from playing 7 games against the current top 6, also suggests they are more than capable.

Very true, they also finished 7th with a crazy 80 points last season.

They are built on loans though so it's dependent on those players staying (which is entirely possible). If they do then there is no reason to think the will drop off too much, although a lot of their matches have been late winners I think (?) which statistically is unlikely to continue forever.

If they continue to do well, I’m sure those loan players won’t be going anywhere in a hurry.

Brum and Swansea have Jan recalls in the loan deals for Cosgrove and Whittaker.
