It does seem bonkers but it's presumably a result of the following bit of the Advertising Standard Authority's code of practice relating to nudity, and a desire to avoid controversy on the part of the company responsible for advertising on the Glasgow subway.

Not sure you can apply nudity laws to a 500 year old statue deemed a highlight of the renaissance the world over.
I think it's just an extension of some in this country wanting to follow the idiocy we see over the pond:
