I genuinely never doubted Hladky. With the ball at his feet he is superb.

Well done, you. I didn't have confidence in him on crosses and organising his defence.

I was wrong. I am happy I was.

I'm glad there is a Hladky thread. I was just about to post one. To think there were people calling for Walton to come back in. Vas had been unbelievable

Player of the season for me. Absolutely reliable shot stopper, and his passing and distribution is a joy to see. Walton must be the best keeper in the league that’s warming the bench.

Walton. A top quality keeper who is still very important to us and may win the shirt back at some point in the future

Hladky has been absolutely class and long may it continue!!!

It's strange for Christian. Quality keeper but has spent most of his career as a no.2. As you say must be the best no.2 in the league.

I'm trying to think of when it was that Hdlaky transitioned from 'keeping the jersey warm' to it being his place to lose.

Not only is he a top keeper right now he’s also a very genuine , humble and great bloke

I listened to the TownTV Pod with him on it - seems a thoughtful soul

Am I right in thinking that Vaz is out of contract at the end of the season? Need to sort that out - I’m sure it’s being worked on.

When he comes back not the team I fully expect him to be a better player. He’ll be absolutely practicing his socks off at 5e moment - which is exactly how we want it to be.

I will readily admit I thought he was the new ALB. It seemed like it was about 5 games after joining before he actually made a save. Very happy to be wrong, but I still rate Walton highly.

The corner he plucked out of the air was what finally killed off any lingering hope in their minds I believe but the cushioned volley pass was the highlight of his display. Getting the feeling he could probably do a job in midfield quite comfortably on a one off!

Walton in goal and Hladky in midfield when Morsy is inevitably suspended?

I feel for Walton in many ways, had been looking for a “home” after years of loans and finally finds one at Ipswich and he’s been displaced in our first season back in the Championship. Having said that Walton displaced Hladky on arrival, and I’m sure he’ll take his chances if they arrive again.

You may not know this, but our results in that period of many different keepers our results were better when ALB was in the team than any of the others (except maybe Begovitch, but he was only here for a v short time). In fact the points that we got when ALB was in the team, had they been in a single season, would have had us challenging for the play-offs rather than the lower mid table, relegation dodgers that we were at the time.

It is interesting that you never doubted him. At one time he looked an extremely limited goalkeeper in all areas.

He’s a different player altogether now from what we were all used too. His improvement all round has been outstanding.

He's absolutely, won me over.. I mean I was in the camp of a Walton return , as soon as he was fit enough. As I thought he'd earned it..
But Vas' has definitely earned his right to first choice, now. That's not a slight on Walton. It's just that it's Vas's shirt to lose now. I'm sure Christian will realise that, too.

There was an interview with him in the guardian(I think) a while back. He said was splitting his time between playing gk and no.10 in the youth team until he was 15, at which point he decided to concentrate on being a keeper full-time.

I think someone may have mentioned that before, yes. 😇
