Will miss Kayden. A brilliant pro for us and very much part of our journey.

Interesting to see that Vas is still in talks regarding a new deal. Perhaps not as imminent or cut-and-dried as it was made out to be when it was discussed a few months back?

Course it wasn't. It never was cut and dried. Hladky was doing the ol' smoke and mirrors to the media. He wants a massive final pay day and Celtic could well give it to him (more than we're prepared to give anyway).

Surely the correct decisions with all of these. Kieran has shown in the past that he can be ruthless where necessary, and I think drawing a line under Jackson is not the limit of where his ruthlessness needs to take him. Jackson has surprised many of us time and time again, but he is definitely not premier league class. It's a thank you very much for your efforts, but goodbye.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the former loanees.

Donacien's situation seems like an unusual one? Out of contract but returning for pre-season and the noises from the club indicate he'll be staying. Seems like a positive character to have around, will never let you down on the pitch, and the fans love him. But is he really premier league quality? And if so, why no mention of contract talks? Maybe I don't understand the protocols with injured players who are out of contract...

We have a duty to get Donacien fit, basically.

A lot of work to do with the squad. People who think we’ll only bring in 6/7 players are way off imo. Will be north of 9 I’d have thought. Some frees/some loans (2) and some big money spent.

So the FLW story on El Mizouni was, as expected total BS

I dunno how many times it needs saying, but Luton signed 13 players last summer. No-one complained that the core of their team had been ripped up - because it wasn't. They were still able to retain that same ethos/culture. And I back us to manage to do the same.

Yeah, I understood as much - I just wondered whether the club spiel on him which mentioned next season indicated that he would be here next season (see text below). However, on re-reading, i think it's carefully worded, and "he builds towards..." means he builds towards a successful season somewhere, but surely not here. Assuming he's off once fit, which was surely expected, what a great servant, and we all wish him very well I'm sure.

"Janoi Donacien’s contract has expired, however, he will continue his rehabilitation at Playford Road throughout the off-season and will return to pre-season training alongside the first-team squad as he builds towards a successful 2024/25 campaign."

Yeah, they're saying a successful season for him. If we were keeping him we'd have renewed his contract I imagine.

I fully appreciate people wanted to keep the core and that will happen, but the squad is light and also jumping two divisions in two seasons gives us more work to do than normal imo.

Oh, is he? That’s explain it then… I thought his contract finished tbh … we’ll try and sell him I’m sure .

If Donacien leaves after recovering from his injury (as has been suggested), that'll be the last of the Hurst era gone.

Only Woolfenden and Luongo would remain having played for Town pre-relegation. The former just three League games, the latter with a big gap between when he came on loan and rejoining.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Trouble is his wages are going to be out of reach for the sort of clubs that would ordinarily go for him.

We'll either pay him up, or send him out on loan for the last year and pay a percentage of his wages.

Whichever costs us less.

True, had forgotten he played four League matches at the end of the relegation season. However, I think there is a very good chance he'll either leave or go out on loan again.

Edit: Embarrassingly, I was actually there for his debut at Bristol. How did that slip my mind?

I know there are a number of clubs interested, Chesterfield among them.
