WTF

Looks horrible.

What happens if they stand by and it kills some kidor old lady on the pavement?

That said, I question how long it would have taken to get someone qualified with a tranquiliser?

It looks pretty dark so I suspect this happened quite late at night. I'm not sure they'd be too many kids or old lady's around. It just looks extremely excessive to me.

They just don’t help themselves.
Good job the Met weren’t involved, they’d have closed half of London, bought in half a dozen marksmen, shot several bystanders and promised to learn lessons going forward.

It used to great on here when people let me say whatever I wanted and giggled along - (Rough translation of post from un-named TWTD contributor, 2026)

Missing the point completely....

When I was a kid many many years ago

There was a tv ad for some washing powder where a housewife was holding up various soiled garments prior to putting them in the washing machine

There was a kiddies T shirt with "Ketchup Staines"

A pair of the son's football shorts with "Grass Stains"

And then....

A pair of hubbies kecks with "Nasty, Unmentionable Stains"

I can never think of the pleasant Thameside town without the prefix.... Nasty, Unmentionable

To be fair to plod, I’m guessing stray cows aren’t exactly a common thing to deal with in urban areas. If they’re not getting out the lasso unit, running it over seems to be the only choice. Tasing it probably wouldn’t have gone down too well

I'm pretty sure tasering it would go down better than ramming the poor thing 10 metres down the road and then parking the car on its head!

I’m no expert but presuming you want to apprehend an urban cow and you go for the taser what do you do after tasering the cow? Handcuffs and back of the van?

There are lots of things if they happened in different parts of the world it would be a completely different story... because we're better than them.

I don't think the only two options were ram it or kid/old lady dies.

So if they had taken”several hours” to capture this animal. Where the hell was the vet with a tranquilliser gun???? Are police so bloody thick that they have to resort this cruel attempt to disable a clearly frightened and distressed animal. Disgusting behaviour!

It's odd but I now think it makes sense that the other day whilst cycling I saw a dead mouse lying in the road then 20 minutes later another dead mouse lying in the road. "That's odd" I said to myself. They were rammed by the police weren't they.

Animals are often getting onto motorways. Transport police seem to deal with those with little fuss. I'd have thought a couple of strong men and a rope ought to have done the job here, cows aren't particularly fast. It ran off after it was rammed and was captured later, so the ramming didn't even do the job anyway.

It wasn’t a “cow”, it was a young, small calf trotting down the middle of the road on its own, minding its own business. These animals in such situations are scared and don’t attack people, quite the opposite, they get out of their way.

2-4 plods on foot could have put their arms round its neck, or police vehicles boxed it in. To just run it over, twice, was unnecessary, callous and cruel.

Cows do charge. I agree a solo calf probably wouldn't. But a scared animal running out of control is plainly a danger.

That maybe so but they had 4 hours to tranquilise it not ram it with a car.
