They did. Johnson, however, wanted guaranteed 1st team minutes and West Ham weren't offering that.

Would we be offering guaranteed minutes with our current let back in residence ? I don’t think that would be possible as the current players do not have that promise.

Not sure of the legitimacy of the link but he can play both left and right back, centre back and in midfield. Mr versatile.
West Ham fans seem to think he's on the verge of signing a new 5 year deal however

I don't know how you can guarantee any footballer first team football, we have squads now. Is he going to throw his toys out of the pram if he's dropped because he has been playing badly?
Not sure that attitude matches what KM wants from a player

I think he just wants more than the 1 appearance in 17 years for West Ham.
There’s nothing wrong with that.

There does appear to be a question mark over our right back position. AT offers the defensive stay at home option and Clarke is a work in progress at championship level let alone PL. In any of our full back positions we need depth and it’s starters and finishers, not set in stone first and backup.
Leif needs proper left side cover also so this potentially provides some cover options but unlikely in the same way as a left footed player which we should be targeting.
With Donacien presumably getting fit to leave there is the versatile right back and centre back gap. With Ball leaving there is the versatile CM and RB cover.

Davis is much better going forwards than the defending part of left back I feel. Maybe we’re looking for a more defensive left back than a wing back perhaps?

Bored of this now.
We've not seen Davis as a defensive LB so you can't really make the sweeping statement that you are making.
Context is important.

Do you honestly think McKenna would replace Davis with a "stopper"? What did you make of Roy Keane's 4 centre back approach by the way, innovative or anti-football?

I’ll take Leif Davis in his current role thank you.
You know, the Leif Davis who has been arguably our best player in B2B promotions.
That Leif Davis.
