Looking from the outside, that seems a bit hasty. A win percentage of 40% at a team that's been struggling to make mid-table for years. By way of comparison, that puts him above Mick and Jim and just below Joe Royle.
They spent a bit last year though,, so obviously the pressure was on. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up back at Plymouth after they realise they've cocked up with Rooney. |  |

It's difficult to see the sense in this sacking. Why bring in the manager and let him bring in his own players over the summer only to sack him after a few matches. The new manager has to scramble to get things on track.
Stoke seem to have an odd sense of having an inflated view of their worth. Whatever they have been doing for the last few years has not been working. You really have to pick the right man for the job and back him, not just in the transfer window, but also by giving him time to implement his ideas. |  | | |

Another example of how sometimes a club and a manager are the right fit for each other. A move to a supposedly bigger or better club frequently doesn’t work out. KM made a very wise choice in the summer. He’s a young manager with a long career ahead of him. His time for a move will come but right now he’s in the right place. | |

I think Stoke is quite attractive. Good squad, decent base to start from, got a few quid behind them too, good stadium. Not achieved anything notable for years too so while they might fancy themselves a bit too much I think it would be a good opportunity to take them forward without too much fan expectation. Nice job IMO, other than the fact its in Stoke.
