after eight (eight!) games, two leagues up from where we were 18 months ago might make more sense!

Even if you had a PhD in Psychology and was an highly experienced psychologist, you’ll still come to the conclusion that the angriest crap written on here was indeed written by bed wetters.

IF we were using the same side I think most would agree with the 18 month thing.

However we spent 100 mill to make sure we didn't play the same side and use better players to make sure we get results in the prem.

We haven't won yet despite that spend, only 1 maybe 2 of the signings look value for money and we've gone slightly backwards in performances rather than seemingly progressive.

So I get the 18 month thing. But you can't spend 100 mill. Change the side bit then hide behind who you played 18 months ago.

It's not all doom and gloom of course but hope that helps to make sense of it.

I don’t care about losing, done it so often I’m numb to it.
But playing poorly, and watching good players struggle in position they look uncomfortable in, that’s what frustrates me currently.

I've had a pop at a few for negativity, but to be honest I have no issue whatsoever with people venting frustrations (we have been very poor in last 2 games), its the ones who seem to thrive on it that annoy me (probably more than it should!). The ones who were fairly quiet after eg the Villa game, but suddenly all over the forum when we lose.

That’s because people like to moan.

We need to forget this “ two leagues up from where we were 18 months ago” narrative.

Muric, Greaves, O’Shea, Johnson, Tuanzebe, Ogbene, Phillips, Clarke, Szmodics, Delap, Cajuste, Hutchinson, were not part of the team playing against the likes of Fleetwood, Forest Green, Morecambe and Accrington.

When everyone is fit only Davis and Morsy have been guaranteed starters from our league one campaign and Davis should never have been anywhere near league one in the first place.

Our downfall isn’t lack of Premier League experience, it’s the individual mistakes in our penalty area b that we are making in every game and that our coaching staff do nit seem to be able to fix on the training ground in the time they have with the players in between games.

Not quite true dubs. I was vocal after villa and have been complimentary all season yet you didn't agree with my venting my frustrations yesterday.

Yesterday really pssed me off. Its the loss. I know we will lose many games this season. But where I lose faith is stubbornness from a manager. When things are glaringly obvious to a large number of fans then there's clearly food for thought for the manager imo.

But. Yesterday's gone. Its done now we all move on and look forward to the next game.

FWIW, you're not who I was thinking of in that post, as you're omnipresent at all times!

Even with the new players we lack much Premier league experience.

We also lack that team spirit and innate understanding of the system.

Personally I thought the whole point of the signings we made was to go into the season with a no fear style. Let the players get at sides and what will be will be concede many but take goals to opponents.

For me we are trying to hard to stop teams. We aren't playing without fear and not letting our players flourish and play the way that made them targets in the first place.

Kompany getting the job at Bayern was a bad thing for smaller clubs.

It potentially encourages young managers like McKenna and Martin to remain inflexible to protect their reputation / brand of football.

I don’t disagree. But we aren’t a plucky league one team playing in the premier League either.

Disagree about lack of experience. A number of errors come from players adjusting to the level. Doing something that worked last season and finding the ball is gone. Even Morsy in the few games. It's clearly such a leap that there's no way to fully prepare for it.

Burnley had a similar turnover of players last year.

We've seen the old 'takes time to gel' a couple of times in recent years.

I take your point, but the obvious comeback to that is that we've needed to upgrade potential because of our rapid success, and we've only had eight games (six if you discount the absolute ultimate challenge of the first two games) to try to bed three quarters of a whole new team in! With quite a few injuries.

The individual mistakes are costly and annoying but the overall attitude must be "focus on the good bits, we're still having to come together more than any side ever has had to, given where we've come from."

Good bits for me yesterday; Burgess looked pretty solid on his PL debut, Morsy was really good, ditto Davis and Delap. Omari, Muric, Woolfy more than OK. Taylor good when he came on again.

Bad bits, yes, O'Shea not putting the first one behind, Burns bad game all round, Clarke still settling in to what's required and making a few poor decisions (but carried the ball quite well at times and did look a bit of a threat).

I think the defensive decision making is because we're trying a little too hard to play out of every situation. It's a tweak rather than a major problem.

Despite Burns' awful one yesterday, I'd argue that isn't just a matter of individual mistakes - it's lack of understanding between players and our defence not playing as a cohesive unit - hardly surprising given the injury-enforced chopping & changing.

you only have to remember the flouncing in January in league 1, followed by the flouncing in January in the Championship to realise weve got a bunch of fans who were always going to jump off the deep end in the Prem.
