Already know of a fair few West Ham fans round here who plan to be there.
Best thing the met could do is make sure the Villa/West Ham game kicks off at the exact same time but without a doubt it’ll be grim. Lots of Dagenham fans are West Ham.

Feel so sorry for any actual grassroots Dagenham fans.
Agreed. Their biggest day in over 10 years (since they drew Everton away is going to be totally taken over by West Ham fans looking for trouble
At least the Everton game with the West Ham fans who went (my brother for example, albeit he did have a Dagenham ST that year still tbf) weren’t looking for bother. This will be carnage

Helpfully put it on at night as well!
If it is us v nodge it is a 12.00 kick off. Surely, 11.30am kick off, no bars open before, during or after, dedicated routes in and out for both sets of fans. The biggest problem is those intent on violence and the close proximity of where they will come from and be heading back to.

The trouble with London derbies is it’s impossible to allocate designated routes in and out and to arrange escorts etc.
Lived half a mile from the Den up until a few years ago and the place has changed a lot since the days of old (gentrification, increased diversity, etc) Plus it’s Millwall v Dagenham, not Millwall v West Ham. There’ll be a few muppets for sure from west ham who want to be idiots but not that many.

Hmmm. I’m not so sure it’ll be ‘carnage’.

Millwall don't seem too excited by it.

Yep doubt it’ll be anything particularly major. Millwall clearly pick and choose now and doubt this will be one they get too excited about, unlike the Everton game a few years back for example which was always going to be major disorder. .
Nothing out of the ordinary happened the last time, and that was at Dagenham.

The impression I get is that many of their hooligans are now drawing their pensions, and because, as someone mentioned above, the area has become much more gentrified, I am not sure there are the same number of younger people taking their place.

A few years ago I went to Millwall v Bradford play off at Wembley. There were lots of horrible people there. A few old Millwall heads said they were mainly daytrippers. Won't be many on a Monday night

Having lived in Surrey Quays I agree with this. It's not the Millwall of old. Used to go and watch them loads whilst I lived there - more than I watched Ipswich, and the fans are mostly genuine, family orientated and down to earth.

I also live fairly locally and have a few mates who follow them home and away. When they want to turn it on - every few years - they do. And obviously every old bod is going to come out for a cup final or similar. They won’t for Dagenham at home on a Monday night in January.
It’s a proper club Millwall. Genuinely good with the family stuff and also got that bite to it for big games. Their reputation will always hold them back but generally decent people and most of them have a soft spot for Ipswich.
