Later today, we could see him at the game, and that will settle everyone down, but even if we don’t, it doesn’t mean he isn’t coming. Is it taking longer than we’d like for confirmation? Sure
We know he’s completed a medical and passed,we know we agreed the fee with Villa. We know he spoke to McKenna ahead of the medical and wanted to sign for us. We know he agreed personal terms with us in the Summer and Villa hijacked the deal (the ba5tards).
We can assume, with great confidence that he is unhappy at Villa and wants to leave to get more minutes, ironically the same reason he left in the first place! (I have no idea what McKenna told him, but is he guaranteed minutes for us?) If a player is unhappy, it’s bad for the squad morale and that probably explains Emery’s weird response in the presser when asked about Phil, he probably wants him to fight for a place. At the end of the day, Villa knew we’d take him and they’d make a ton of wedge for doing nowt, over a very short period of time, happy days for them (the ba5tards).

From what we know the hold up can only be the player or the agent. I don't believe this 'paperwork' nonsense. Deals get done in a day on deadline day yet we are stating we hope to have him available for next Thursday which is a week away. His agent is definitely holding out to see what else there is or the player doesn't want to come. | | | |

If he signs.... id welcome him and I'll back the club's judgement on him as a talent
OR
If he's off elsewhere ... then good riddance - we dodged a time-wasting bullet and we've got a few weeks to spend our cash more wisely.
What I wouldn't want is a "is he or isn't he" situation and I'd expect the club to move on if that was the case. Can't say I've got myself excited about it yet. More interested in a 9. | | | |

Deadline day deals is just finalising what has been being planned during the transfer window, and just waiting for the final 'nod'. Often waiting for other links in a complex chain of other players moving to come together.

Could be. But that's just speculation without concrete evidence. It could be anything, and just because it's taking a few days to announce / finalise, doesn't tell us anything about the reasons. It could be sinister, it may not be.
