Whats the betting points deduction THIS season?!

Poll: Is Micheal Mcintyre actually funny?

Surely, the EFL need to wait for Leicester to be relegated, before they charge them.

Fairly sure it was the different league scenario, that they got away with last time.

If the Premier League charge them this season, it is a bit of a joke, as they are getting relegated anyway. If I was Leicester, I would be very happy to have a points deduction this season, as opposed to next.

Probably why they have waited until now: it will take months and so any punishment will be waiting for them should they make it up.

The Premier League legal department won't have enjoyed being humiliated by Leicester's "We filed accounts at an unusual, but highly convenient, date completely incidentally, without any forethought" defence, which won the day previously.

So now they get to serve a big dish of revenge. Piping cold.

sky’s take on it

Leicester have been referred to an independent commission by the Premier League for alleged breaches of the EFL's Profit and Sustainability Rules for the 2023/24 season.
Leicester are also accused of alleged breaches of the club’s obligation to provide its annual accounts to the Premier League by 31 December 2024 and to provide full, complete and prompt assistance to the Premier League in response to the league’s inquiries.
Leicester say they will "engage cooperatively in this matter".

We might get that extra 3 million after all.

Would we prefer an extra £3m or Leicester have points deducted next season.

Absolutely next season.

If the points are deducted this season, it would not be any deterrent at all, for breaking PSR.

I thought all Premier League clubs passed PSR checks for last season towards the end of last year?

This relates to the season before, when Leicester were not a Premier League team.

Nothing will happen to them. And if anything does it will keep being delayed due to never ending appeals

As does the statement from the PL about PSR earlier this season. It wouldn't be about the current season as they wouldn't have the accounts for that period until later this year.

I thought that as the EFL and Premier League are seperate jurisdictions that they would have to be relegated before charges could be bought against them? I thought that was what happened to QRP previously?

As I posted a month or two ago, this has been parked by the EFL awaiting any return by Leicester to their jurisdiction .

Reading between the lines of previous statements, the EFL are ready to throw the book at them due to making the EFL look like fools last year.

Any punishment would be under EFL jurisdiction next season.

EFL and PL charges would be entirely separate matters though, so they could face a double whammy of points deductions by both

They'll walk away from any form of punishment yet again, just like they've done on at least two previous occasions.

Any PL punishment has to wait until they return to the PL too - which could absolutely be a double whammy. Struggle for a few seasons in the Championship due to EFP penalties next season, to eventually return to the PL for an immediate sanctions.

Wouldn't want to ne Leicester right now - but they deserve it for the shenanigans

I think realistically they'd still be in the playoffs even if they got 10 points docked. Some sort of long-form embargo probably more likely to dent them.

Didn’t Leicester only win their argument about jurisdiction in relation to 2022/23 so now being charged for 2023/24.

EPL & EFL have tighten up regulations and a punishment given by one can be enforced by the other.

Actually yes, you are correct - so in theory they could get a penalty at the start of the 25/26 season for any 23/24 charges that stick, and a further penalty for any PL charges for 24/25, that could happen in the New Year and still be applied before the end of the season.

POST EDIT : Oh, and potentially a third penalty for already being in breach of PL rules to the end of 2024, so maybe 2 penalties in the first half of 25/26 and another in the second half of the season. Fun and games...

Precisely. I haven't trusted this 'independent' arbitration since it allowed Bolton to get off scot free with no points deduction in 2018/9 despite not fulfilling a fixture (just about the biggest crime I thought there was - as Middlesbrough in 96/97 could attest?!?!). As such I still don't recognise us as finishing bottom that season - that was a disgrace.

Two seasons in a row we're (likely) to finish behind a team that has been breaking the rules for years. Let's hope that doesn't happen for a third time next season...
