Chelsea,World Cup of clubs and Delap 04:21 - Jul 11 with 2397 views | Perublue | They (club and fans) are going to be insufferable - well more than normal anyway if they win this. You can just imagine the chants of being the best in the world now…even if they aren’t clearly. I bet Delap couldn’t imagine he’d be gracing this final 2 months ago..seems Flashscore rate his value at £38 mill currently. I usually support the English team in any euro type cup but I will be Paris on Sunday they have become likeable now they’ve ditched their galácticos and are stunning to watch …. Hakimi is incredible. I think he's done ok, a promising debut and later a goal against Palmeiras I think it was. Probably better and likely he won't start against PSG but sure he'll get some minutes. Chelsea probably have more physicality than Madrid in midfield but it"s hard to see anything but a PSG win.

Pedro ahead of him atm but he's a bit injury prone I believe? Delap would have been better going to a middling to upper half side where we would play week in, week out. But lots of dosh, living in West London, potential champs league you can see why a 22 year old would want to go.

Chelsea win in the final will bring their prize money in the tournament up to £87.5m (already at £80m on route to the final) - no idea how much the clubs taking part are getting in TV revenue, but guess it isn't peanuts. So pretty much paid for Delap and Joao Pedro just with the prize money...

Seems to have gone on forever, and I kind of lost interest.

Yep, I think it will be damaging especially come Christmas / New Year. Little rest, short pre-season is bound to have consequences.

Did I see it correctly that Meresca was moaning about the amount of games chelsea have played

I read somewhere the winning club would stand to make about £130m all in. Pretty much a years worth of revenue for us and that was in the Premier League. Multiple years for most Championship clubs.

Stick them in the Premier League and see where they finish. Bottom of the Championship would be my bet.

The weekend before the Prem starts they've got two friendlies on the Friday and Sunday against Leverkusen and Milan. Assuming they'll come back at least 5 days before the first fixture the players are really looking at 2-3 maximum with no football

Don't really think that Meresca had much say in the matter. With that carrot dangled in front of them, the owners decided that. Money, money and money rules.

Yes it will be interesting to see when the "the players are tired" rubbish comes out. I can't be the only one who has had absolutely no interest in this. I've seen clips and things on social media but not actually sat and watched a game. I can't believe the tournamnet has "made money" and is just backed by some rich saudis. [Post edited 11 Jul 14:35]

True, but he can pick the side and decide not to use any of his big name players though

Chelsea,World Cup of clubs and Delap on 15:53 - Jul 11 with 939 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | Think FIFA will be fairly happy overall with this tournament to be honest and will likely be a permanent fixture between Euros and World cups every 4th odd year. I was kind of hoping it would flop. Decently attended knockouts and teams for sure wanting to win with the money involved.
