Any one else a bit surprised that he seems to be the off the bench option? I know he’s getting on in footballer terms, but given he started a fair few matches last season I assumed he’d be rotated with Johnson at least.
For those that have been at the games, how’s he looked in his cameos? Has he still got enough pace and energy to get up and down the pitch (I.e. any signs for why he shouldn’t be starting)? |  |

He's been tidy at the very least.
To be fair, one of the reasons he hasn't started is that Johnson has looked very decent, especially going forward - not perfect but better than he has been.

It's more he came in later and Johnson has had a full pre-season, and by all accounts looked pretty good.
Needs to be remembered that at RB we have two options with significant PL experience. Johnson is starting now, but there will be a time when Young has a run of games starting. They'll rotate pretty regularly and I think that's fine. |  | | |

Not really.
I did say on here when he signed he'd be used off the bench mainly.
I'm sure he'll start a few games, but Johnson is first choice.

I thought Johnson had a below par game v Birmingham, and was better against Southampton.
Against Brum he lost possession a number of times, and he and Ogbene were simply not on the same wavelength at all. |  | | |

I suspect Johnson will start more at home when we need his energy and want to be a bit more attacking and Young will start more on the road when we want to keep things tight as Johnson is worse defensively |  |
