Apart from Walton who did the customary win celebration, it was noticeable to me that the team and McKenna kept their distance from the away fans after the game.
The contrast with Derby couldn't have been greater, even though the result was just as key.

An incredibly sad indictment to the supporters. People moan about not feeling a ‘connection’ with this group that they did with the 23/24 squad, then subject them to the ridiculous abuse on Saturday that they feel like they can’t even come close to the supporters to celebrate.

TBH, I saw it as not going overboard on a win after the last couple of games. It wasn't like they ignored the fans en masse either.

It was probably worse the year before as we got relegated but there was a lot of abuse directed at Andy Marshall in particular in 02-03. He was sh1t that season, but even so....
I don't think there was the collective sense of ennui from large parts of the fanbase that we've seen this season. Talk of 18 months of failure may be coming only from the biggest bores but plenty seem to be similarly inclined to judge the season overly negatively. | |

He needed a kick up the arse. He was complacent thinking he was our shoe-in number one striker and our other options not doing great either didn't help this. Now Azon is starting to shine a little and GH is clearly not first choice at the moment - so there's no justification for him to show any kind of ego | |

No. Not really. People then after a disappointing game tended to just leave the ground quietly. Rarely even boos let alone what’s dished up now. Yes there would be the usual collection of dimbos on radio Suffolk, but people were in general a lot more patient and had a far more realistic grip of the club’s situation.
You might have a good rage over a beer, but not in the ground. Abuse tended to be reserved for the opposition, unlike now.
The exception was Andy Marshall who was heckled and mocked. Was Royle appreciated for the job he did here? Not really. Two top six finishes while the team was sold from under him wasn’t too bad an effort.
As for last night, if you were a player would you want to go near a load of people that had given you dogs abuse four days previously? Of course not. You’d do the bare minimum and head off wouldn’t you? I would. [Post edited 25 Feb 9:09]

Interesting that we all noticed the same, not often the whole board agrees on something. Might have just been the comfortable nature of the win but think they might be a bit grumpy with us. Fair enough.
I think it is also fair for us to be a little grumpy with them, even Leif said Wrexham was not right.
But, only a little grumpy is ok, abuse is not ok. No good singing 'Follow the Town up or down' and thinking that means calling players c units when they lose a game.
