I never understand what people are expecting from offsides. Even if we follow Wengers suggested rule where it gives the attacker the benefit, you’ll still have a line you have to measure against.
How else are they supposed to rule on those decisions?

To be fair, it’s not VAR that is at fault in this instance, it’s the offside laws being applied as written:
11.1 A player is in an offside position if:
any part of the head, body or feet is in the opponents’ half (excluding the halfway line) and
