Yes they are well on top , but i can't see where they are much better than us, infact they play very much like us tbh

The main difference is that they don't fart around on the ball for half an hour before moving it forward. Ten times as fast as us getting an attack going.

Because they aren’t much better.

As the table and form table shows. They struggle to break down teams too.

Agree. No tippy tappy stuff. But pass it around the low block very much the same

They're not much better than us. They just don't concede pathetic soft goals like we do sometimes.

I still think we can catch them. Because when we play well we are the best team in the league. Just not consistent enough.

It's not beyond all possibility we finish 2nd. The players have the ability. They've just got to remember to turn up from the start.

They are quicker on the attack than us and their pasing is far crisper.

1. They don't have as many show ponies as us, they play fast and direct rather than trying to walk the ball into the net for the perfect goal

2. Their defence doesn't switch off and go full kamikaze during matches

The difference between them and us is that our player of the season is a defensive midfielder and their player of the season is an attacking midfielder.

What's most intriguing watching this game is the amount of "fouls" not given that look worse than the penalty from last night.

Charlton throwing bodies all over the show here. They do occasionally break but can't keep hold of it.

Does have the feel of a late Boro penalty about some of these attacks too and tbh, it looks the only way Boro will score.

Thank you Charlton! Southerners unite! Almost as big as QPR's magnificent win vs Leeds in spring of 2024.

As others have said. Crisper more accurate passing and much quicker to get forward.

Oh I think you'll find based on last night.

1, they do try and walk the ball in.

2, their defence does switch off

And yet we outperform them on goals scored, big chances created, shots on target, xG. Mad really that they are so much better at attacking than us but unable to turn that into actual attacking outputs.

Last night was the perfect example of how most teams will struggle against an ultra low block. The difference is that we see such a tactic in the majority of the games we play, where Middlesbrough have been given less respect in many games, allowing them to score more often.

Last night they saw many shots closed down / blocked by the defenders, and despite many shoats and chances created, failed to score. They experienced what we experience in so many games. Look at how many blocks we've had against us - this goes a long way to explaining the difference over the season.

What and give away 10 pens? Based on the one that was given against us.

It is this entirely. Not sure how that isn't patently obvious to those creaming themselves over Boro. We've been wading through low blocks all season.

It’s the goals we give away , teams often don’t have to work hard for the goals against as more often than not it’s a bad pass that allows the breakaway.
