Headphone advice... 13:35 - Jul 5 with 6440 viewsSwailsey

To all you music buffs out there, my trusty headphones have finally packed up and I'm looking to get some decent ones.

Primarily for use with music (indie/rock/bassy) plus podcasts.

My budget is around £50 ish (give or take).

Any recommendations?

Thanks as always.

Way over budget but I bought some Bluetooth Bose Soundsport and they are excellent. Especially as have an iPhone 7 with no headphone jack

Oh yeah...I have iPhone 7 too, so no jack. Maybe it's time to finally go Bluetooth.

Is charging them a pain?

When you say headphones do you mean over the ear?

If so, I always found these guys gave a good punchy sound on a budget, though hi-end is a little too subtle.
Audio-Technica ATH-M30X Professional Headphones - Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HVLUQW8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_A3nxzbC4RB5J9
M20X comes in at about £40-£45 if £56 is too high.

I'd recommend grabbing a pair of Sony Extra Bass headphones, I've been using them for over a year and they are great for what I use them for. I think I managed to pick them up for 20 quid in Tesco but have seen them cost more elsewhere.

Not overly, i just stick them on when i go to bed with phone etc.

For £40 there is a charging case you can have but I haven't needed that

If they're just for in ear headphones then the Soundmagic E10 (10c if you need an inline mic) rightly gets a lot of plaudits from the Hifi mags. £30ish I think I paid for mine.

Hmm, seen similar threads to this from time to time. I also have a wish list

Bluetooth - (probably, although iPhone 7 does have a converter)
Ear canal type - no extra bit for in or out the ear)
Decent battery life - or quick to charge
Wide range of musical interest, rock, blues, trance/club, 70/80/90's etc
Budget £50 - £150

I would say the same, was never a Bose fan before but these are fantastic and very comfortable too.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

AKG every time. You're paying for the headphones not the logo and they get great ratings in all the audiophile mags etc.

These are the current version of the model I have. I've had a Bluetooth pair for three years and an early version of these for five years. Superb cans.

I'd always recommend Sennheiser.

You're a "cans" man rather than in ear aren't you?

If in ear, then I have had these for about 3 years and they still sound great.

I know a group of people who play games and live stream for a living, they use Audio-Technica headphones for everything. Very good headphones.

Would recommend.

Mrs Slave decided to try a pair of these based on this advice and concurs......she says thanks. Hope the train advice for tomorrow's Foster the People gig at Somerset House works out as well !
