This morning I thought Bogle, Tilt and Jackson would be next. Each of them now look to be unlikely (by different degrees).
So what are our alternatives? Bradshaw looks sure to leave Barnsley - can we get in ahead of Millwall? Would it make sense to target Marcus Maddison - an attacking midflder/winger rather than a striker/winger like Jackson. What’s our other, second option for centre half?
Any other candidates, at this late stage? Any smash and grab raids worth considering? If Millwall get Bradshaw, would they let Gregory go, for instance?

Jackson, and then we’ll be waiting till the loan window.
What if we’re not willing to pay a record fee for a league two player for Jackson? That’s what we’re talking about.
And unless Jackson is the only player who can bring what he brings, in Hurst’s view, I’m not sure we’ll be willing to go beyond £2m. It would make sense to be considering options.

Likewise Tilt and Bogle.
I just think we’ll end up giving Accrington what they want, but that’s just my view. Given how we was told Waghorn would only be going if someone was coming in first, we’ve either moved on from Jackson and Bogle as targets and going for someone different, or talks have accelerated with Accrington and Jackson will sign soon.

Accrington are League 1 now, but know what you mean.

Cant imagine Jackson's fee will end up exceeding £2m.
Tilt and Christian Doidge on permanent deals, then look into the loan market for a winger. I reckon somebody like Taylor Richards from Man City or Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson from Fulham
Would Tayo be able to convince Cauley Woodrow to come here or is he out of our reach? It might be a bit weird loaning two from a club who just went up, but they sent him out last season twice and we did look at buying him before.
Tilt seems nailed on to me, but I think he is a back up CB, people seem to be forgetting he's barely played any league football at all for his age etc. He's somewhere between a Digby and Webster type signing for me.
I'm getting twitchy because Evans never strikes me as urgent enough. I believe he's decisive but it's always deciding to hold his hand or fold as soon as negotiations get too hot.
I don't see Maddison here, not sure he's the right type of player. Out of all the Posh stars I think we've got the one who is most Hurst and most us.
If we suddenly turn everything on its head and pay over the odds for Jackson I'd be amazed. I wouldn't know what to make of it.
Woodburn at Liverpool would have been an interesting loan as would Thierry Ambrose from Citeh who went back to France.

Jackson fee just agreed apparently!

I am amazed and don't know what to make of that.
How Hurst walks with balls so big, is a miracle of the natural sciences.
I suspect the 2.5m quote was more a bluff from Accrington.
They wanted to wait until the last possible minute to see if further interest developed rather than selling to the only bid on the table at the time. Similar to us and Waghorn. I suspect the fee will be around 1.75-2m.

For a League 2 striker though essentially. That is astounding. Not least because we seem to be shedding Championship experience like a really nasty case of dandruff and replacing it with youtube levels of unknowns.

Yeah it’s an odd one. Seems to be highly thought of by a lot of people - Mogga included! But it does seem an awful lot of money for a L2 striker.
Worry with QPR interested as well. They could well offer him more money & if we do miss out on him, not sure where that leaves us at such a late stage

I guess we'll chase after a Premier League loan after the transfer window closes if Jackson doesn't work out; wait for them to settle on their squads and see who we can pick up. Unless we have a lower level Plan B lined up but time is running out, especially as Jackson is unlikely to sign anything until Wednesday at the earliest with three sets of negotiations to take place.
