How our pool of strikers has diminished over the past few years is quite sad really.

Murphy McGoldrick Pitman Sears

Waghorn Garner McGoldrick Sears

Harrison Jackson Sears

Bloody hell

....surprises me.

MM obviously fancied him (albeit in dead rubbers) but he hasn't had a look in since.

I guess his trip away with Australia didn't help, but it still seems odd to me.

Yeah I really liked what I saw from Folami back end of last year.

I thought the Aus trip may have helped him kick on again as he seemed to do well for them.

Initially it's probably because he is one of those players Mini Roy didnt rate "despite people telling me how good he is". Can't blame Lambert for not going for him with Lankaster ahesd of him in the queue and Jackson & Harrison swapping bench duties.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Why is PH getting "mini-Roy" nickname? he seems to have been the Wurst of the pair ...

Yep. I think there are players in both Harrison and Jackson, to be fair (and they could probably do quite well next season if we needed to get back up), but just one wise, proven head around them would make so much difference.

You could say this about defence too.

Chambers Berra Smith
Chambers Webster CCV
An aged Chambers Peng Nsiala

Totally denuded all our quality at both ends of the pitch.

Yeah absolutely.

There was a time when we had Chambers, Berra, Webster & Smith.

I think Berra has been our biggest loss in recent years tbh, despite the attacking options mentioned in this thread that have gone out the door.

There is a decent argument for that, yes. He was a Premier League quality defender, for the most part.

....over Christmas.

He hasn't changed, still gets his head on everything, fouls at every opportunity, lumps it into the stands without any thought, blocks shots with his ar5e.

He'd easily improve us, even now.

More our inability to replace I'd say.

Berra had diminished quite considerably from his peak with us by the time he left.

He was never the same after the Lincoln home game when their huge lump up front took him to the cleaners. Plus Mick went a bit mad and started playing him on the left in a 3.

I think that's true too and he was really not capable of playing the ball out from the back at all. Chambers and Smith would both have been ok with someone like Webster or CCV next to them who was decent on the ball but Berra really struggled.

A bit like the season we struggled after we sold/lost Kuqi, Bent and Miller, 90% of the goals gone within a summer.

Yep good point. He was just what you want in a centre half, experienced rugged and kept it simple. Mini Roy would have hated him and got rid of him though.

For me his biggest strength was his deceptive pace.

I think playing in a back 3 in 16/17 finished him as a Championship player.

Lest we forget, Hurst sold Webster to finance buying Nsiala.
