The lyric “ Money money money, it must be funny, in a rich man’s world” literally could have been written about the scheming b@stards who promoted this farce knowing full well it would screw over the majority of us and make themselves richer

“Hello, I'm your MP. Actually I'm not. I'm your candidate. Gosh.”
Boris Johnson canvassing in Henley, 2005.

Now there’s a band that was busy writing prophetic lyrics over 30 years ago.
I give you 51st State, but as an unequivocal 48%er, what about ‘Brave New World’ by the same band, if only for:
‘We are not young and beautiful, we are not rich and bold And we are not your people who bought the dreams you sold And we hate your smiling faces and we hate what you have done We hate your patronising and we hate your cold blue eyes And we all feel this raging and we all feel the same This crazy blinding fury that we cannot explain And we all see reflections in our lover's eyes We live with so few troubles but with so many, many lies and No, there's nothing wrong here, nothing at all’
Still one of my favourite bands!

I find it really scary how many of their songs have even more resonance today than they did when they were written. With hindsight, The Charge is probably a better offering for the Brexit album:
Side 1 Just say no - cast of grange hill Stand by me - Ben e king Don't you want me - human league We gotta get out of this place - animals Hold on tight - elo Riders on the storm - the doors Go now - moody blues rat race - the specials
Side 2 In between days - the cure Anarchy in the UK - sex pistols Alternative Ulster - stiff little fingers exodus - Bob Marley Hurt - Johnny cash This is England - the clash Good morning Britain - Aztec camera & Mick Jones Ghost town - the specials
