The worst company you've ever had to deal with 10:36 - May 5 with 2724 viewsgtsb1966

If you can get any worse than TalkTalk I'll be surprised. Just got my daughter out of a contract with them free of charge after three months of utter frustration. They sent engineers out on two separate occasions yet the broadband still was dropping out on average four times an hour. The speed was painfully slow. They resolved nothing yet each time i made a phone call said id have to give them thirty days to resolve it. Now with another supplier and no trouble at all. How talk talk are still going I'll never know especially when you read the reviews.

I suppose it's a couple of factors:

1) Price
2) Whether you encounter problems

I spent a few years with Talk Talk in a previous house and had no problems with the service, which meant I never had to deal with their customer services department.

BT.

100 faults on old house landline over 20 year period, some lasting as long as 6 weeks, and no mobile signal in that area.

Openreach got postcode wrong & wouldn't let me correct it because they required proof of my ID which was, you guessed it - postcode! and they wouldn't believe that it was they who'd got it wrong, not me, despite their BT billing section saying it was me who was correct, not them! So engineers coming out to those 100 faults always went to wrong house 4 miles away.

Problem was only sorted by me moving house after 20 years!!

Oh Christ - I'd forgotten about the omnishambles that is BT/Openreach.

I think I still suffer from PTSD caused by trying to get someone at BT to put me through to Openreach to discuss a line installation. Apparently, despite being the same company, they don't have a phone number for each other.

We sold a flat and asked for the BT line to be disconnected. Instead, they disconnected the line to our house. Took weeks to resolve, and they insisted it was our fault!

Most large companies are a nightmare to deal with & were even before COVID-19. Spend ages on hold listening to annoying music or recorded messages lying about how "we're VERY busy today", you finally get through to an automaton who asks you umpteen security questions & then is completely unable or unwilling to help you. I think Vodafone are probably the worst.

Hear hear! I had a nightmare with Talk Talk a few years back and just dumped them. I’m with BT now and they are only marginally better in terms of customer service. Seems to be the same wherever you go these days.

Oh god - I'm on a PAYG with Vodaphone. Luckily I rarely use my smartphone other than as a camera (still no signal at new house!) and haven't had any problems with them - yet ...

Have used BT for many years without a problem, now have 5 mobile phone contracts with them on top of phone / broadband... But find their website frustrating; log into my BT, but it is too easy to find self outside and having to log in again.

As for postcode issues. Our postcode takes nav systems to one of those post collection boxes around the corner from the entrance of our block; book a !uni cab, delivery etc. Must give exact details of location or stand at the corner of the other road.

Trying to cancel my Vodafone contract a few years ago felt like a Di Vinchi Code-esqe puzzle.

Vodafone, recently attempted to view account.

My wife has been with them for 2 years, she was with 3. I suspect they used her first language not being English to hoodwink her into moving from 3.

Last Autumn I noticed excess charges on her account and told her to query them, then forgot about it. April her unlimited* contract was billed at £85 over plan price, so used her ap to check, and whilst we could access monthly payments etc. Trying to access deeper detail rejected her email, so we asked Tobi, who then passed us into an online chat with an advisor on the Indian Subcontinent... 2 hours later, received a message saying locked out of account for 48 hours. Tried again 48 hours later no-one of sufficient rank available, next day first advisor did more in 10 minutes than anyone did before in over 2 hours.

"Unlimited - that was with 3. Vodafone was 15gb, wife usually used 12gb per month mainly contacting family in Colombia and streaming stuff from her church. March into April she was participating in zoom meetings and used 17 or 18gb. £85 in excess charges for that!

When asked for an email address for complaints we were told there wasn't one. In my industry that is not permitted.

Anyway moved that contract to BT with 24gb for £17pm*

*lots of discounts due number of contracts with them

Virgin Mobile. Lost my mobile so bought another - they managed to reactivate my old mobile instead of activating my new one. Even worse some months I was billed for both mobiles but other months just the old or new (it varied) and I must've spent hours every month getting refunds for incorrect billing and trying to get my new mobile activated. Finally after 6 months of trying I actually got a very helpful lady who sorted it - no idea why the others couldn't do it. Still got random bills where they'd ignored the inclusive deal mind you so we still got to 'chat' to each other regularly.

Tv licensing although I’m not sure they qualify as a company.

Tv license is basically a massive government run scam but despite them being very quick with threatening letters demanding payment, they’re surprisingly very slow at issuing refunds. A scam run by scum.

Also very slow to make good on the monthly threats they send you.

I've been unlicensed for years now, and month after month I'm told that I've been 'approved for enforcement action', and that someone will be knocking on my door imminently.

Needless to say, I've not seen hide nor hair of them!

I’ve already paid for it so I watch reruns of Frasier on channel 4 and use the bbc news site. Quite how that can come to £150 a year is beyond me. I would happily switch to another news site if it meant no license fee. The best thing about the bbc is the international football coverage every two years, beyond that it’s just game shows and unfunny sitcoms.

BT has been appallingly inefficient for literally decades. Back in the 70s and 80s they were truly dreadful, and it doesn't sound as if they have improved!
