Like reading Q, it is years since I read any Moorcock but in my late teens (I was going to say I lapped up Moorcock but you know how that would be seen) each new Jerry Cornelius or Prince Corum was eagerly consumed. Might be something to do with author who writes stoned out of his gourd delivers the best material for readers stoned out of their gourd. I started to lose interest with 'Gloriana', which was just when he started to get some literary acclaim...
The lyrics he collaborated with Blue Oyster Cult on 'Cultosaurus Erectus' was an interesting extension to the genre too:
about 10 I think, struggle to remember which books Ive read,but far too many Neil Gaiman books in that list though, he writes some good stuff but its not all good.
and ok ignoring the whole animals can talk and lead remarkably structured lives aspect, is Watership Down really considered a fantasy book ? I mean Beatrix Potter isnt included in that list.

Eight I think, mostly Tolkien but also Stephen King. And I actually read Watership Down - fantasy though? - a couple of months back.
I still have no idea how I managed to finish Lord of the Rings twice. I think I read it a second time because I couldn't quite square the self-indulgent slog I'd read with its billing.
