Easier to just follow Peston on twitter - he is just a tory PR man these days so you can read everything you need from there.

It's just a little delay according to BBC. Not sure where 6.30 is coming from.

Edit: Sky confirmed 6.30, ignore me.

The paint on the new slogan for the lectern hasn't dried yet. I wonder what our lock down slogan will be this time #GetCovidDone possibly.

It may end up occurring two weeks prior to the believed date but I’m calling my def info a win here. Since the upcoming lockdown was the main point.

He's a funny one - was a big critic of the BBC's 'both sides-ism' once he left but has become, along with Kuenssberg, the worst culprit for servile client journalism.

Anyway, going by his Twitter thread, it does seem to be a softer lockdown than last time with more things staying open, although I guess the government will clear up some of his vaguer points.

I think the superforecasters managed to work out that people will be watching football at these times.

What a time to be alive. (Or not, as the case may be.)

Probably realised at the last minute that Italy v England k/o was 4.45pm and wanted to watch. Just about sums up his approach to being PM & dealing with the current crises.

Prepare for him to come to the podium 6.35-6.40pm when the rugby finishes.

Apparently the delay is because Sunak is threatening to walk. A few journalists on twitter saying he doesn't want to be associated with a national lockdown. If that's true, it seems he's putting his career ambitions before public health advice. Seems like a great fit for Johnson's cabinet.

Didn't take long for the mask to slip if true.

More likely because he can't see how we can financially afford another lockdown. After all, that is going to drop in his lap after this is all over.

I am of the opinion that, with this being a worldwide problem, much of the issue will disappear as everyone is in the same boat. If all countries borrow and default, lenders will still have no choice but to lend to them - where else would they go?

Exactly. It's not like we're alone in this, are we? The losses at this point are purely academic.

But then again we do have a no-deal exit looming.

Lol.
