hasn't he pardoned himself yet?

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

In this country it would have been incitement to violence at least, surely. Treason is the only capital offence here too, isn't it? Or maybe eating a swan too?

Someone was on Sky earlier claiming that Trump is reluctant to leave office for fear of prosecution. He quoted Berlusconi and Italy as an example. He said only third world countries would prosecute a former leader!

Someone (not been announced who) was shot earlier, and has since died.

How many fooks will Don give?

Even if it was a supporter of his, it's a tragedy.

FBI confirm they've made safe two suspected explosive devices.

It's terrorism. Pure and simple..

Are these Republican representatives going to have the cheek to go back out there at some point and still say the election was stolen and that people need to fight? You betcha.

There are no remaining capital offences in the UK (since 1998), the death penalty has been entirely abolished. Moreover, in the UK treason is quite narrowly defined.

Indeed. The European Convention on Human Rights was a major impediment to its reintroduction.

Sounds ridiculous though doesn't it? The UK... Brutally murdering prisoners in the name of justice... It couldn't happen. Could it...?

Some disturbing tweets there laughing at her death.

I'm sorry she was deluded and if she was still alive, I'd be annoyed at her presence there and I would be thinking she was a fool myself, but there's some bizarre and very uncomfortable posts on that thread with, not only no compassion at all, but revelling in it.

Don't like to see it.

Edit: just to clarify, my dismay is aimed at some of the tweets, not your post.

I know, it's a hard read isn't it? I don't celebrate this. She's a victim of a cult. There's no reason at all why she needed to die today. Edit: I just saw the video of the shooting. An utterly pointless and meaningless death. Awful.

But I can also understand that some people can't muster sympathy for someone who has died for a man who has spent the last four years demonising them, calling them murderers or rapists and celebrating their murder by police. Making them feel unwanted and unwelcome in their own country.

I don't know where we go from here. Part of me thinks that there needs to be severe punishment for anyone who has aided Trump in order for half the country to heal, but that'll just inflame the other half.

How do you reconcile two groups of people when they both think the other group wants to see their destruction?

I don't think you can.

The only way forward is to educate and to eventually outbreed outdated and backward-looking people.

It does happen, we see it ourselves when a generation argues with its own parents.

What they have always believed is hard to let go when shown to be wrong by 'new' people when they are half way through their own lives.

Heck I know myself, I've been resentful when I've been pulled over by some cop half my age or being told what's what by a doctor who looks like they're 12 years old.

It does come down to education. Or occasionally, at least in my case, them realising that I'm right and they know feck all. Bloody kids.

Can the new President un pardon a past president’s pardon?

Surely the trick is to not charge Trump with anything whilst he’s still President, so he has nothing to pardon himself for? Then throw the book at him on day one of Biden’s Presidency.

Incitement to riot, leading to loss of life. Treason. Put the w*Mkrr in a cell for his natural life.

He will face state, rather than federal charges and he doesn’t have the power to pardon anything other than federal offenses.

In the same way I don’t block posters on TWTD I will not unfriend someone on Facebook for misguided views. Here is one such post from a middle aged estate agent in California which I suppose highlights the depth of the problem

“ Now they defend the electorial college. BUT

The Democrats will get rid of the electorial college as soon as they can,
and Democrats wiil have the power forever with the popular vote.
They will also get rid of Biden as soon as they can.

Democrats are very happy tonight.
Hello Socialism and higher taxes.
The election was stolen! We lost.
Move on!”.

I know it isn’t exactly the same but there are similarities between this and some of the silly posts on TWTD about those who voted for Brexit.

Stay safe folks.

"The Democrats will get rid of the electorial college as soon as they can, and Democrats wiil have the power forever with the popular vote."

Heaven forbid that the party offering the policies that regularly win millions of votes more than the other party should be in power...

It's funny. You ask them about proportional representation and they don't want that either! They know that this unbalanced and discriminatory system is the only way their guys can win.
