Anybody else planning a 24 hour plus TV viewing extravaganza?

Started with the test match early this morning, break for lunch combined with Spurs v West Brom, now watching Wakes v Ireland rugby, checking in for Liverpool v Man City, followed by Sheffield United v Chelsea.

A couple of hours to fill before the Superbowl, and straight into day four of the Test Match.

Superb stuff!

Unsurprisingly, I have booked the day off tomorrow.

Mine is about 15 hours. Started at 12 for the football and will finish about 3am after the Super Bowl.

Enjoy!

You'll need longer than that for the crap-american-rugby-with-adverts final.

Me too. For more than 20 years I’ve been in America skiing at this time and have claimed a seat at the bar in a bar for the game accompanied by a river of beer, nachos, burgers, fries (chips), wings etc so this year is rather different. Football, Superbowl but much as I’d like to do the full stint and take in the cricket the zzzs will be upon me, being a saddo with no stamina.

Probably more so, given that they're not bothering with all the padding...

Looking at most of the monsters that play it, soppy isn’t a word I’d use to their faces. Most of them are massive. Interestingly, according to ESPN the average career span is 3.3 years and 78% bankrupt within 3 years of retirement.

Adverts? Er yes, way too many. It’s a game to have on and chill out with, rather than watch in the way you do real football. I’ve seen NFL at Wembley a good few times and its always a really good day out. Good fun.

Do they show the adverts on a big screen? Are they Britis adverts or American ones?

British fans don't see the adverts.

We get the half time show though, sadly. That's something I hope doesn't creep into British football. I think they did it once at the FA Cup and then abandoned it thankfully.

That's what makes the Superbowl so ridiculously long. All the messing about at half-time.

Who doesn’t?

I loved the whole Super Bowl experience when I was in America a few years ago, but we’d followed the whole season with American friends and our local(ish) side got to the final. Büggered if I’m going to stay up all night to watch 2 hours of adverts with some sport in between though.

American largely. A few like Peloton are the same or similar, but most are different. Companies like Geiko and Coca Cola pay huge sums of money for slots on Superbowl night. There seems a tradition to make a lot of them funny. Naturally, some are many are not but then their audience is American, not me).

Sadly, all American tv is wall to wall adverts.

What magnificent insight you have. I did wonder whether you keep your simplicity focused on just Brexit and the Tories. No, it’s actually sport as well.

I loved Lady Gaga in 2017 & Black Eyed Peas in 2011 - in fact the h-t gigs have usually been the best bits as far as I'm concerned! 😂

Speaking of which, what a superb voice Jazmine Sullivan (joint singer of the national anthem tonight) has - wow.
