And some gullible fools believed I had . I wouldn’t and haven’t been to watch the dross ITFC served up since watching Douglas play 90 mins at home without breaking in to a run. I wouldn’t have gone to Middlesbrough to watch that rubbish on a helicopter let alone a Honda melody. However I’m told by a fairly reliable source that we have approached Hartlepool about their manager BUT and this shows how far we have sunk, he isn’t overly interested as he feels his career could be stunted here but not where he is. If true this is the end.

It was an epic tale, and for those who didn't take it seriously it was quite amusing. A lot of people got the hump because it was not true and Fergal's reputation as a purveyor of tall stories was born.
Subsequent tales, planning to do a sponsored bike ride from North to South Africa in two weeks - and many more, have only 'enhanced' this reputation.
It does mean everything, absolutely everything that Fergal writes is disregarded.
I think at heart, he is only trying to entertain us.

I remember getting absolute pelters from a few people for pointing out that the story was very obviously bullsh1t.

It get better, some fans set up a fundraising page to buy him a new scooter and a few contributed.
Thankfully the money raised was given to a good cause so now harm was done (other than to a few egos)
A 16 year old friend of ours recently set off for Bristol from over this way on a Honda 50....after the top box fell off twice, he finally crashed and had to be rescued from Bury St Edmunds. Miss Slave furnished him with her Dad's old Melody. The stuff of dreams....my ego survived in tact btw! ;)

My fave scooter story.
Friend of mine, her parents met after the war. He was a Glaswegian in London, she from Germany. He took her on a date and decided to take her on another to visit Scotland over a bank hol weekend.
Driving up the A1 on a Friday night, he was tailgaiting a lorry for the wind pull/protection. All going well until he fell asleep,,they crashed and both ended up in A&E with cuts and bruises.
When he told me this, he finished his story with "You be careful on that motorbike, there are some right idiots on the road" delivered without any sense of irony at all :-)
