So thoughts on tonight people? team? result? 11:23 - Mar 16 with 4650 views | unstableblue | Tonight will be really tough, a good team, new manager, good form - a long long way to travel (but I think the team is together, and a hotel stay and getting some spirit into the camp on these long trips may be a positive). I think I'd take a draw? pains me to say it against frickin FLEETWOOD. The first 25mins against a wobbling Plymouth were great, high relentless press, attacking intent. But Downes was the engine, the catalyst. He's a BIG miss. I think Bishop will come in, but he look jaded when he came on Saturday. Dozzell is for me turning into player of the season (how can people be saying Chambo? who has been excellent of late and superb start of the season, BUT had a series of stinkers, and is still leaking crosses).. long may it continue. So Team then, keeping in mind Cook wants partnerships and attacking intent: Holy Chambo Toto Wilson Kenlock (had a 50/50 performance Saturday) -----------Bishop Dozzell Bennets-----Parrot-----Judge --------------Jackson I'm hoping for 0-2 - Jackson scorer

I don't think we can change a back 5 after a clean sheet so that remains the same: Bishop and Dozzell doesn't work together for me, they're far too lightweight and need a protector in there alongside one of them. In Downes' absence, is Skuse fit to start? Otherwise Judge has to do it. Please, please no Bennetts. Assuming Skuse won't start and assuming Downes is out, I would be tempted to go: Holy Chambers Toto Wilson Kenlock Judge Dozzell Parrot Bishop Edwards Jackson

It does seem bizarre to me that we're not trying Judge in a central midfield role. Most of his success at Brentford and even Notts County was through the middle rather than cutting in from the flanks. Hopefully Cook sees his potential there, he'd certainly help us retain possession and he's not afraid of a juicy tackle either.

See extract from Phil’s article below on point position! From the article where Skuse is taking top two. I too like you would love and expect a win, but I still think our defence looked weak on crosses and we’re just not creating goals from open play. A good performance and goals tonight and I think we’d all be bullish/rocking. I know what you mean about Dozzell/Bishop - didn’t they have one game where it worked??? Not sure judge has ever played there. I also am massively sceptical about Bennets.... BUT unlike Edwards and others has has pace and is beating the man - if Cook. And then get a decent ball out of him at the end then it’s party time. I’m pleased Cook has given Lankester a chance - but he just hasn’t taken it!!! “Beating the Pilgrims took Town back into the play-off places for the first time since mid-December and while they remain 14 points adrift of leaders Hull they also have three games in hand on them. Second-placed Peterborough have 62 points, eight more than the Blues, from the same number of games and Lincoln are third with 61 points having played a game more than Paul Cook’s men.“

Funnily enough I wonder if judge should play behind parrot and Jackson out wide. Jackson has done some really good wing play and crossing in his time at Town

I cannot abide by the mentality of taking draws pre match in many circumstances, and certainly not this one. We're playing in an empty ground against a side 8 places below us. We have to be going to places like Fleetwood with higher expectations than that, playing with a swag and some authority. Agree on the issue of the wide men, the reality is many have been given a chance there and they've all rarely delivered. The more I see of Lankester the more I think he would be better suited as an out and out forward in a front 2. It's a case of who is the least worst option really, perhaps Parrot gets a run on the right with Bishop in behind Jackson, or vice versa.

Judge as 'minder' doesn't work because he simply hasn't got the positional discipline.

He doesn't have the positional discipline out wide, simply because he thrives on playing centrally. He'd be fine as a minder for Dozzell.

They love a draw. Only Shrewsbury have drawn more games than Fleetwood this season. I think they've only won 2 out of their last 10 at home, but you're right their recent form looks better. It's not an easy game by any stretch but I would really like to see us go there and have a proper go at them. 1-2

When he played centrally in a three earlier in the season he used to drift all over the place. There's no way he's a CM in a midfield two.

That was his role in a 3 though, if he has less licence to roam then the expectation will be that he protects Dozzell a little more. In the absence of Skuse or Downes I'm not sure who else is better suited to partner Dozzell as we look so limp with Bishop next to him. Nolan I guess is the other option, but not sure if he's fit either.

Nolan is out for the season. I'd still rather Bishop than Judge, assuming Skuse isn't fit to start. I really don't see what Judge offers in a midfield two in this system and I don't trust him to not go walk about. Bishop has played plenty in a midfield two and whilst neither he nor Dozzell are enforcers there has been improvement in Dozzell's defensive game and Bishop has never been shy of a tackle.

I think your scenario is more likely. I imagine he'll put Bishop and Dozzell in the middle with Parrot ahead of them in behind Jackson. Real shame Skuse probably isn't fit to start but could be very handy off the bench if we've got something to keep hold of in the 2nd half.

I'd probably be tempted to rest Parrott and play Judge as a 10 as that's his best position and it gives us his experience in the spine of the team then. I'm tempted to give Lankester another go purely because he does have something about him and will offer a threat coming in from the right, it also means Edwards can move to the left where he is more effective. Parrott is clearly a talented footballer but he's looked a striker playing out of position to me in recent games and I'd prefer to see him coming on for Jackson on 60 minutes instead of Drinan.

So thoughts on tonight people? team? result? on 17:43 - Mar 16 with 3849 views | SomethingBlue | Tough one, the midfield worries me so I'd quite like to see Judge in there as part of a three given his workrate. If Camps is still out for Fleetwood that'd be as big a boost to us as losing Downes is a blow. A draw would be fine tonight. A win and I might start to think we're on our way a little bit.

Agreed. A draw is fine as long as it feels a "fair" result. I'm too jaded to be pleased with a point if it's another awful display and only gained from luck or Fleetwood profligacy. A win, however it comes, and I'll be over the moon!
