Scott Duncan must be one. Last bald manager before Cook as well, by my reckoning.

Afraid not. By my reckoning Cook is the oldest at date of appointment. Royle and McCarthy closest at 53.

I don't think there has been any.

I thought of Bobby Ferguson but he would have been 44 when appointed.

People really looked older for their age back in the day didn't they?

I think you must be right. I realised Scott Duncan had to have been younger given the length of time he was in charge.

I was surprised when I worked it out. We've tended to appoint young managers, quite a few in their 30s. SBR, George, Jim etc. Probably not a good one to draw to Cook's attention at tomorrows press conference!

No, I'll keep that one quiet! Good spot though, I don't think anyone else had noticed.

So our best 3 managers were all appointed in their 30s and to be fair we've had a few in recent times far worse than Jim!
