I'd be more than happy to add the likes of Verdaine Oliver, Callum Connolly, Wes Burns etc to the squad and am sure we will be looking at standout performers at this level or squad players from the division above, young enough to drop down and be stars.
But wouldn't it be great to just have some out of nowhere signings. Czech centre half. Dutch winger. The maestro at some Bundesliga 2 club that just missed out on promotion.
It would be a lovely sign that Cook, The Three Lions, Ashton between them have a proper scouting network in place ready to hit the ground running as these won't be Skard or Malarcyk type punts. Proper scouted players. You think Leicester got Mahrez for £400k and sold him for £60m.
There is an absolute wealth of players across Europe that would, even at a League One club, increase their wages, play for a bigger club, put themselves on the radar of bigger clubs here and could be huge stars at this level and the one above.
Would love it if we went down that route to a degree. Not a whole team at once. But a couple of carefully picked gems. |  | | |  |

Vadaine Oliver is rubbish. He's had 1 good season, before that he was struggling for goals in League 2 and the Conference. Watched him play for York City a few times and he wasn't good enough for them. |  |

That would be good but as Footers said, there are post-Brexit work permit issues.
As for Verdaine Oliver, I don't see why people keep citing him. He played well against us but he's 29 and has a career of not scoring goals at lower levels that L1.
He isn't what we need.

Not sure on the ins and outs, to be honest with you. Think how much a player earns comes into consideration, which is why it's still possible higher up the pyramid. | |

Just like playing CM0102 which I have been enjoying recently since it's Freeware. I had forgotten Rushden and Diamonds once existed and were pretty loaded at the lower league level.
It is however most annoying when you find a ridiculous player but are unable to sign them due to work permit issues.

Yes, he's 6ft 2....but his hold up and link up play is 'OK' at best, he's not prolific in front of goal either.

Aren't we looking to build for the future and to push on into the Championship?

Waghorn wasn't laughed at all.
The majority could see that he was a steal as soon as we got him (and before). He was 26 when he joined us, from a successful spell at Rangers.

Hed scored 27 goals in 2 seasons at rangers. Before that he scored 20 goals in 5 years prior to joining rangers.

Strength. Ability to hold the line. Gets in the box as often as possible. Solid heading attributes. Reminds me of Hawkins but more agile.
Hes clearly not a star otherwise he would be playing higher than league 1. But I think people need to be realistic of where we are as a club right now.
It's one thing wanting to see a championship ready squad being made but I dont see that as realistic throughout the squad. | |
