Look at me - I’ve come a long way 10:27 - May 13 with 1395 viewsThe_Romford_Blue

Three years, 48 pages and 11,576 words later and I’ve submitted my dissertation on ‘The importance of coaches for the success and development of sports teams and individuals’. Feeling pretty good right about now.

Thanks for everyone on here that filled in my survey a couple of months back. Was very much appreciated then and it still is now.

Any interesting insights, especially the counter-intuitive ones, that you can share?

Well done Rommy, I hope it's well received and you get the grade you're looking for.

I expect it's all digital submissions now but back in my day (feel old saying that, it was only 2010) we had to print a physical copy and they were quite strict on the rules. I vividly remember going to a printers in Durham with one of my housemates, the old lady took us up the stairs to what looked like a Dickensian scene, rows of vintage typewriters covered in dust. She printed and bound our dissertations with a nice cover, which we promptly took into Uni to hand deliver, before getting blind drunk in the SU & town. Good times.

Excellent work mate.

However unless the conclusions on coaching were about binning off every player and bringing some new ones in you've probably failed. The masses have spoken.

No final exams for us thankfully. One slight issue with the course and Covid being that one module in a school coaching kids had to be scrapped which wasn’t ideal. However the assessment still needs to be done so we are in next Wednesday videoing each other ‘coaching’ one another. Which is a bit strange but it’s just to show we’ve improved from the same assessment from first year back in November 2018. But the positive to that is we can go on a big night out straight after with the indoor pubs and the Student Union. So the three of us have known that at least they’d be open for a proper celebration next week. After a week of all nighters making sure it got done, we think we deserve it. Haha.

Having barely slept all week, I’ll probably have to sleep a bit this afternoon now though but it’s worth it just to say we did it. Feels like a genuine achievement which is nice even though the grade could literally be anything at all. But just to have completed it.. that feels great right now. Thanks again TWTD

I did actually mention ‘a sports forum’ but not by name. Perhaps I should’ve in case my dissertation supervisor/marker fancied a read on Keane v Jewell.. who was worse?

LL asking all the right questions.

First year - yes. Freshers year innit.
Second year - not particularly until I started seeing someone but that went tits up when lockdown 1 went through the summer. So i don’t know really if that counts as a yes/no.
Third year - Back in the family home doing online learning so definitely not.

Though I am potentially moving away to either Amsterdam or Scotland at the end of this year with my best mate so I’d expect to be back up and running ASAP rocky. She’s an excellent wingwoman being a girl. Suspect the former of the two countries would be better for various reasons. Amsterdam rules apply..

Amsterdam with fun, frolics, booze, drugs and beautiful birds or Scotland with GB, Koonty and Herbivore eh?

Tough one.

Haha. We are more like brother and sister though. More than happy to be her best mate. We’ve actually planned to go up Ben Nevis next in august time as it goes. Am going camping with her family nearby so we are gonna climb the mountain once there I believe.

Rommers. You may want to research what is happening in Amsterdam. The Puritans are trying to get back in charge. I think that earlier this year there were some articles about discouraging "low quality tourists" ie. not rich and/or snobs from visiting. So they were going to try and ban non residents from coffee shops etc.

At least away from the likes of *GB, Koonts and Herbs*, the Scots still know how to party and enjoy themselves.

*Sorry, just joking, you might be total smackheads and well up for a weeks binging given half a chance. :))
