Lol. Even if you don't believe it, which is fecking daft, you don't want to mess about with the Singaporean authorities - they ain't playin' no games.

Good luck to the lad, hope his cell is comfy.

Exactly, his opinion on masks is utterly irrelevant, what is important are the laws of Singapore and those laws are enforced. As someone working there he must have known this already. The fact that's also admitted lying about it on other occasions isn't going to go don't well with the courts either:

"Normally I would just tell people I’m exempt and it had never posed any issues before"

He really has nothing to complain about here at all and it's another case of people thinking that rules and laws don't apply to them because they have a different "opinion".

The sooner people realise that isn't the case the better off everyone will be.

"In my opinion I can do as I like without consequences".

Well there you go pal.

“I don’t believe there is any evidence that masks protect you from Covid-19."

It's not about you, you ^"%£^$&%*^(&!

That he's even uttering those words so far down the line...just lock him up for a while anyway just for being so stupid and for having a photo taken with a yellow mask.

Given how strict on masks a lot of Asian countries have been for many years, I really am struggling to understand why he'd not be compliant if he was liiving there and presumably knew the culture. Just pushing his luck I suppose.

But the woe-is-me look on his face is quite something!

On an unrelated note, but it's quite a funny a story - a friend of my mate who's living out there was booted out of the country for indecent exposure. His crime? Walking from the bathroom to his bedroom towelled but in a state of slight arousal. His flatmate he'd had a falling out with reported him and that was that!

Lesson for us all: don't muck about in Singapore!

So I don’t believe the speed limit in the uk should only be 70mph, when I get caught speeding at 100mph the “I don’t believe in it” wouldn’t wash with the old bill would it?

If he does make it home and anyone sees him, remember that he thinks the test for whether or not to obey a law is whether you personally believe in it. So feel free to smack him in the gob if you happen to belief that the laws on assault are silly ones, clearly he won't mind that.

Would love them to do something like this in London as many people have stopped wearing them or just wear them as a chinstrap.

If they actually enforced the £200 fines, they could make a grand per carriage on most tube services.

Indeed, seems an entirely voluntary exercise now with regards to whether people are wearing a mask on transport.

Whatever my scepticism is with wearing a mask, my thought is that it is their shop so their rules.

No one is forcing me into any particular shop, bank, pub, bus etc

I was also aware, especially last year, that my not wearing a mask could cause distress and concern among others - so, if only for the 'greater good' I have complied with any requirements.

Never been any great problem - or ishooooo, as we are supposed to say now

Definitely seems to be the case. So many are now refusing to wear just because they've been jabbed.

I seriously worry about this country at times. When will people learn?

Things have become more lax over here too - masks not as common now and social distancing non-existent in many cases. We're still running public health messages on the radio, in the press, etc., but I think people have become complacent because of the vaccine, the drop in rates through the spring and probably just generally just being fed up of it all.

Many moons ago I was chatting to the bloke next to me over a pint or 3 in some bar in Singapore.

I commented to him how considering the supposed strictness of Singaporean law I'd spotted hardly any coppers.

He told me I'd seen more than I realised and had probably even spoken with one or two.

He then added that he himself could be one, or indeed, even me for all he knew. That's how they always know what's going on.

Just classic reckless and myopic behaviour.

Can't believe he's been there that long and doesn't know to just abide by the rules.

I've been there a dozen times or so and this is reckless behaviour and the book will be thrown at him.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

What I don't get is these fools who are not wearing the masks demand that we don't wear ours. I've seen reports that on several anti marches, some have been literally screaming at people to ditch their masks.

If you don't want to wear a mask, then you're an idiot. But if I DO, then it's none of your damn business.

I wonder if there will be any spike in cases in London due to the Scotland fans flooding in, most not wearing masks.

Yes, this happened to me a few weeks ago - was at a bookshop in central London when one of the marches started going past. When I came out and was still wearing my mask I had several people yelling at me to take it off.

Spot on.

I’ve been humbled by the number of people who have sacrificed so much to help their countrymen safe, whether it be medical professionals or the army of volunteers who have made the vaccination program run so smoothly.

And then you have the absolute dregs of society spouting the conspiracy bullsh1t and picketing outside hospitals.

Normally it doesn’t matter too much that a good proportion of our society are complete fcukwits, but in a global pandemic we’re only as strong as our weakest links, and some of these links are pretty damn weak.

There are exemptions to your righteousness though?

Or do the laws only apply to some?
