Or make them biodegradable and made from recycled material. It shouldn't be that hard.

Does anyone else have a horrid suspicion that saving the world will be nigh on impossible without getting rid of capitalism? (in order to massive reduce consumerism)

Cleaner says there aint anything wrong with a squirt of Domestos and a jay cloth. Cleaner says you wouldn't wipe your arse with a fancy-pants disposable wipe, so why would you flush one.

Cleaner blames the hipsters for this one - Cleaner just wishes fancy beards and skingrade hair cuts were enough for these brutes - but no - they prance around with their wet apple smelling rags and stage a dirty sewer protest with them.

It's mind boggling that people thought adding plastic to a wet wipe wouldn't affect the planet and the local sewage system. Almost as bad as adding tiny plastic balls to a face cream. What are they thinking? Oh, profit. Gotcha.

It's not about educating the public not to flush, but not to allow these products going to market in the first place.

I don't think you need to get rid of capitalism (or socialism) when it is consumerism that is the problem, it's a bit throwing out the baby with the bathwater. The root of the problem is more psychological than market driven in my opinion as many corporations (and advertising in general, sorry Dolly) rely on using media to implant insecurities in our minds that drive us to buy and use things we do not need.

Capitalism is just a formalised expression of people using opportunities for their own benefit, socialism is a formalised expression of a basic human need to cooperate and rationalise their use of resources. Each has their use and if correctly applied are incredibly useful. Capitalism to get things going and address new challenges as they arise, socialism to keep things going in a less disruptive way and to make sure no one gets left behind.

'big roll down the toilet'?

Firstly, if it is the millennials that are the problem then I think you will find they call them paninis...and who buys a nice big cheese and Branston pickle roll and throws it down the bog...although most of it will end up down there eventually I guess.

Also Cleaner has obviously not had a dodgy curry on a night out and then found themselves more compromised the next day in a way that toilet paper alone cannot address. I always have the pack of wet toilet wipes on the cistern, but very rarely use them and when I do they get put in the Rayburn or on the fire, not down the bog.

Cleaner doesn't eat any of that foreign curry muck. Cleaner is more into traditional English food like Chinese takeaway.

I agree with you. I think capitalism with a caring conscience is the only system that has proved over time to work. Where companies don't do that enough I don't have an issue with legislation that dictates it.

There is alot to suggest many companies have been heading in that direction. And many governments.

My concern with climates change isn't with Capitalism, nor so much about European states, who I think will lead the way. Its still China, Russia, Brazil, India and the USA. There was a report that China intimated that they will only do more on the climate as long as USA backs off its pressures on Hong Kong etc. The issue should be above politics.

And if Trump does get back in power then theres every chance he just reverses what Biden does...because he's only interested in Trump and non caring Capitalism. The sort where the strong survive.

That's very important information for people like me who insist on getting secondary, or even tertiary, use out of materials and don't bin their tissues (I know, it's like not wearing a mask) but use them for...actually shouldn't we be saving this for a Friday poo thread?

Actually I am suggesting we mainly use socialism but put capitalism into service when things go wrong or start to drag. In a way this is the direction that China has been taking (and India has been moving away from) but the benefits are being disguised by a growing population and greater longevity:

Certainly don't disagree with you but also worth nothing that you're not supposed to put them down the drains anyway. People are just lazy.
