Can we stop the Norwood hate now? on 22:23 - Dec 29 with 2661 views | Basuco | It was very obvious that James Norwood was exactly the type of player we needed for quite a while, shame he was not back in the first team much sooner.

Can we stop the Norwood hate now? on 22:33 - Dec 29 with 2567 views | WicklowBlue | Agree, however his social presence to date is going to get haters on his back. Thoughts: a) Maybe he need some time away to deal with his personal stuff. B) Maybe being relegated to the U23s and working with Dyer motivated him. C) He has kept himself in really good shape and we should recognise that. D) Cook playing a rigid 4-3-2-1 didn't give him or Piggott a chance of a run of games. E) His goal against Sunderland shows he is able to make things happen and seize on opportunities. F) He is well suited to League 1 and will annoy defences and sneak goals which is just what we need. G) Like others maybe he needs to feel a bit of love and faith from the Gaffer and help him mature.

Some of our biggest legends weren't exactly saints. Time to just focus on football.

Yeah, but some opinions are just stupid For example, someone on here registered their dislike for KM after his first interview and broke the record for down-votes [Post edited 29 Dec 2021 23:27]

You're obviously right, but it's not the job of football fans to prosecute individuals or decide what the status of their employment should be. You rely on the authorities and the individual's employer. So effectively, as a fan, you do have to accept it. What choice have you got? Take the moral high ground and keep going over old ground?

Leaving all other issues aside ,he is really not a very good player. He works hard, although it is often rather ‘headless chicken”, with a potential for disciplinary problems. I can’t deny he has scored three goals recently , but technically , from the little we have seen Piggot is better. Difficult to drop Norwood all the time he is scoring.

Exactly. Working class lads getting pssed and worse getting up to all kinds. Even recent heroes such as Murphy were done for cocaine abuse.

You miss the point of course. He has 2 drink driving convictions. He is a well paid footballer and can afford a cab home, but chose to drive his car knowing that he had been drinking. Think about that for a minute.

Indeed. This is however about Norwood, where even Penney said " off the field no comment" People have lost loved ones through drink driving. People also rightly so do not accept blackfacing for fancy dress, so it's no surprise he gets negative opinions as an individual.

He's our player. The manager is going to play him. The club have made an investment in him. No one is suggesting you add him as a friend on Twitter.

While I agree it’s disgraceful, the system dealt with it. I hope he’s learned, but he’s just one of many people who take that chance daily, he just so happens to be a footballer. People of the 40 and up age bracket will regularly brag about their past drink driving escapades as if it’s a badge of honour but they get to keep their jobs.

No one has suggested anyone adds him on twitter. When he puts the kit on and plays he gets support. That's the minimum requirement. Marky is asking people to change their personal opinion on him off the pitch, that I don't think will change and there's nothing wrong with that.

Can we stop the Norwood hate now? on 14:18 - Dec 30 with 1268 views | Simonds92 | I love him as a footballer, always 100% and never gives defenders a rest, he'll always score goals because although he's not a natural finisher he's got that ability to pop up in the right areas. To an extent, i dont really care what he does off the pitch. The bloke has moved to a completely new area where he doesnt know anyone, within a couple of months he breaks up with his missus, we have a global pandemic which isolates him even further and he starts to get a load of online abuse from the kind of people who preach '#BeKind'. He may be a bit of an idiot but i think it's entirely plausible that others in the same situation may have struggled and gone and done something similar.

I think the club should encourage better behaviour from him off the pitch and the noises from Ashton are that they expect it. I expect there will be better support and dealing with things than in the past. Ultimately, failure to improve on this in Norwood's case would lead to him being unavailable for his job. It is important that these individuals see themselves as role models. In many jobs if we did "brag about past drink driving escapades as a badge of honour" (as has been mentioned above - I am unaware of this but obviously move in different circles), I would rightly be disciplined for it and quite possibly dismissed or even struck off should I persist in it. It is unprofessional.

Or as a fan stay away from the game in protest , notify the club of your reason for doing so. If you feel that strongly about it.

Have you noticed though that everyone who doesn't like him on here because of his off-field antics, by sheer co-incidence don't rate him as a footballer.

I've seen a mixture. Some you are correct. But there many who do separate the 2.
