Taco Bell - too classy for Gt Yarmouth on 13:16 - May 20 with 2180 views | footers | ,balls They've been springing up all over the shop here in Londonistan. To satisfy my morbid curiosity, I tried a selection of their wares. Not impressed at all. Stateside correspondent Moose said it was a 'real low point' for me. I have to agree. More lettuce than beef, cold, flavourless, highly synthetic cheeze on the tacos. The churros were an insult to Spain. Cheap though it is, I can't see it catching on. Maybe an option if you're pished. Facters has an anti-Lowestoft agenda. Thinks Bury St Edmunds is somehow superior. I can't help but feel these Suffolkian hipsters have a chip on their shoulder about our fine town.

I had my first (and last) in California. Was one of those things it just felt right to do. It was awful. You're right, there do seem to be a load opening up in Larndan Town, I shan't be using them though no doubt they will be succesful. I can't understand why anybody would choose to eat MacDonalds but it's obviously massively popular.

I've had one in the US and one in Nottingham. If you think the US ones are bad, the ones in the UK are worse. They taste a little worse and also manage to be ridiculously expensive for what they are. At least in the US they are cheap.

Bury St Edmunds is magnolia and Lowestoft is grey. Although Bury's food offering is the best in East Anglia for me, Wright's Reuban Toastie is to behold, Gastronome is excellent for a something with a twist, Giggling Squid offers a decent opportunity to try a range of dishes and Pea Porridge for something outstanding.

Cafe Kottani on Market Hill for excellent Greek snacks(not a euphemism).

How could I forget Maison Bleue, haven't tried 1921 or Northcote, they will be on the list. Bury's a bit of a Mecca for foodies, certainly offers more than Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester and probably gives Cambridge a run for it's money.

Same here, one Bellage only for me. I thought ‘oh well, when in America, let’s give it a go’. Well when in America, avoid Taco Bell - and anywhere else come to that. Edit: I also tried Arby’s in the US years ago too. If you see one, hit the accelerator and burn rubber to get away. High on volume, low on price, quality - rock bottom. Grotesque. Hey I'm not the one who moved away attracted by the bright lights and streets paved of gold. You can't like the place that much. Look, I haven't been there for possibly 30 years. Maybe it's nicer now.

It's a fair cop. Once I saw the glitz and glamour of Whitechapel's Watney Market I could never look at Lowestoft high street the same again. Although they did bopth have Wimpys at the time. Think they were probably the only ones outside of Argentina by then. Speaking of which, there was also a Spud-U-Like in Norwich's Castle Mall too. Are they still about?
