No, Saturn. Of course he means the UK, otherwise it's pretty pointless . Although, it is Bankster so anything is possible.

Weather heads up. on 19:37 - Jul 9 with 4682 views | IpswichKnight | None of mine are showing anything like that top temperature for next weekend in London is 31c. Is Bankster reading the Express/Mirror weather reports which are renowned for being wrong.

It's probably Fahrenheit.

Weather heads up. on 19:52 - Jul 9 with 4570 views | N2_Blue | Bankster is correct, models are showing 40+ C on many runs over next weekend. Obviously a lot can change at 7 days out, and models can quite often be wrong but the weather pattern is fairly stable being a big high pressure system pumping up heat from Africa so there are less variables in place to downgrade this. Whatever happens it is going to be exceptionally hot and even if it doesn't get as hot as the models currently predict I'd say there is a serious chance the UK temperature record of 38.7Cwill be broken. Parts of Europe specifically France, Portugal and Spain are in real trouble. Temperatures well over 45C forecast and its now almost certain these will happen in these places. Western Europe is on the brink of a potentially devastating heatwave. How severe it will be in the UK needs to be closely watched in the coming days so people can prepare.

you are wrong Jeera. It's being widely modelled at the moment lows 40s. Doesn't mean it will happen but Bankster's post is correct not a typo.

Whilst that seems a lot, I believe a similar jump in record temperatures happened in Canada last year (4.6C increase, apparently). https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-57654133 Actually, having just checked the above, the same thing seems to be happening in parts of Canada again right now: (not sure of the reliability of this link) https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/canada-heatwave-hot-records Anyone who still thinks that we're not now in an era of crazy and deadly weather due to Anthropogenic Global Warming needs to get their head out of the sand, swiftish.

Thanks for saving me a lot of texting. The latest GFS is suggesting in excess of 50 degrees in SW France next weekend as a possibility.

You are right to regularly mention this, as are others. But it's at top level it needs to sink in and from whence it needs to be preached out loud. Another category where we are lacking leadership. The weather is so different to just a few years back it's like living in a different country to the one I knew much of the time. [Post edited 9 Jul 2022 21:17]

Scary stuff. As a humble horticulturalist, I notice the changes, some subtle, each of the seasons. If these temperatures turn out to be true next week, it will set a dangerous precedent.

It may indeed not happen as they are computer model and variables are almost infinite. Worth a heads up though I thought...fans will be selling out fast and refrigeration systems will fail at such temperatures..dangerous heat to say the least. "As a humble horticulturalist". This irritates me a little bit because it's like it's an unimportant role or something. Frankly I can't think of a better place to be than outside close to nature, but there ya go.

Yes well don't walk about with your tongue in your cheek or people will get the wrong idea. I was a kid with my weekend outdoor job (80s) on the markets and in the winter it was very important to not touch the metal bars with bare hands as they would stick to the skin. And you couldn't get it off as the skin would go with it. It sounds mad now but it was the case. I bought a cup of steaming hot tea from the burger bar on Ipswich and spilt it and by the time it had hit the ground the liquid spilt had frozen solid. I would say by the time we were in the mid-late 90s (ish) it was not longer so much a thing of concern. So much has changed in such a short time. You are right in what you say that working outside you notice the patterns alter as they happen in real terms.
