Was hoping Blackpool were going to complete the signing so Jerry Yates could come here!

Yates started and scored for them too last night, so I doubt we may be in for him or if he'll be coming here

Maybe Blackpool pulled the plug on Bishop because we are no longer pursuing Yates because we are about to sign Hirst!

May throw a spanner in the works when it comes to Yates. They are needing to move a striker on so they had funds available.

Hadn’t they been linked to a Liverpool loanee? Perhaps they’re plumping for him instead.

Feels odd to me to bin Jerry Yates in favour of Bishop, unless Yates has asked to leave. Can't imagine they would get a great deal more for Yates than they would pay for Bishop when you consider the signing on fees and agents cut, and probably similar money you would think. Similar age. I've liked Bishop when I've seen him but it feels a bit of a trade down.

Perhaps they've just had second thoughts and they're going to back Yates.

What's the obsession with Jerry Yates?

He's not good enough for the level above, we should be trying to sign players who are or who could develop to be good enough to be at that level in a years time.

People always seem to forget we have Jackson who at any point in his career with us seems to be wanted by half the clubs in the championship. He also fits well with McKenna’s system. Maybe he’s just synonymous with failure here (of the team and management) which people can’t get over

Scored a few last season to be fair. Shane Lavery is the one to get from Blackpool, he's quality. He's like a poor mans Rooney.

No, the issue with Jackson is that he's not been a prolific goalscorer outside of League Two and he's 28 now. Those are the facts.

Maybe its Hirst to Blackpool, Yates to ITFC and Bishop to Pompey ... we can hope or better still Hirst to ITFC but just not sure that will happen

This is definitely what has happened.

Got ruthless Ashton written all over it. Everyone gets their ducks in a row and we just stroll in and do what's best for us and sod everyone else lol.

Well hopefully!!!!

Not sure it's prudent to be spending 1m or so on a striker who doesn't play for Blackpool in the league above who also played much of his football in this league in a front 2.

Can he even play the role required??

No

Let’s be a team that finished above mid table in league 3 and actually get out of this league first.

Have to say I struggle with Jackson but we're clearly not relying on him for goals are we. We'll be signing another forward before the window closes and have recruited Ladapo.

Agreed. This Championship team BS needs to stop. We need a team to get out of leagueone, even if that means some experience league one journeymen.

I see you're still pushing this rubbish about Jackson.

You've been proven wrong so many times I thought you would have given up by now.

Apart from Harness (obviously) the signing that has made me happiest this summer is Ball. No frills hardman. It tells me that McKenna knows what it takes to get out of the league and has convinced the owners.

If we'd got bakinson instead, I would have gritted my teeth and hoped for the best (and screamed into a sofa cushion every time he ducked out of a 50/50).
