Haven’t got time as of right now to read the whole thing but from the first paragraph, it just reads like someone insanely jealous of Tim Lovejoy.

Needless to say, I had the last laugh. On a note of awful books, I found a copy of The World According to Clarkson in a pub recently. It’s like the manual for Brexit Voters before Brexit was even a word.

I must say, this isn't one of them. It's no coincidence that Andy Gray and Richard Keys were thinking it was acceptable to slap the ar5es of female colleagues while their employer was running with this sort of creepy sh1t.

I haven’t read the whole thing, but here’s my opinion. 🤦â€â™‚ï¸ I don’t find Lovejoy incredibly offensive myself, he sits in the bland with the likes of Jamie Oliver for public influence. But a dislike for someone on the grounds of smugness and ego isn’t “jealousy” - and when that word is used in self-defence it just sounds like delusional ego designed to deflect any criticism. Trump-esque technique. [Post edited 30 Aug 2022 16:43]

Soccer AM was very much a product of it’s time. Arguably ahead of it’s time as it had a female presenter in an age when that was an almost foreign concept. I don’t remember it being much more than football clips, crap PG jokes and a small dribble of casual sexism that Lads Mags had in much higher quantities. Although I think it was 2002 last time I watched it (with the exception of the Sitters episode). [Post edited 30 Aug 2022 16:44]

The ultimate irony for them is that Clarkson was a 'remain'.

For a laugh I picked a chapter that was clearly gonna be controversial and started reading it outloud. Within a paragraph he had already said something so Gammon I had to stop. I ended up taking it from the pub and lobbing it in the bin lol.

It should be on a kid's channel. I think now they have Bullard as a presenter which really does say it all.

I strongly suspect that Clarkson, like Littlejohn and Hopkins, started out with all his right wing dickery as a 'playing a character' thing(there's money to be made in pandering to idiots and bigots, let's face it) and, like Hopkins and Littlejohn basically turned into the 'character'. A place we stayed at in France had that on the shelf. I was tempted to have a look for a laugh, but then remembered I was on holiday to enjoy myself. So read a book about the Bombay mafia instead

At least Clarkson had the mind for his career to just be casually racist in a BANTZ way. Now he has a reality show where he tries to run a farm, which I’d assume is a bore for even Clarkson’s biggest fans. Not sure what Littlejohn is up to these days since encouraging a trans teacher to commit suicide and bury the evidence, but Hopkins is now reduced to reporting for and talking with LITERAL ACTUAL NAZIS to make a buck. Does make you wonder when cancel culture will figure out transformative justice is a better path back to avoid sending people deeper down the hole of bigotry. Nazis don’t seem to have much of a bar on who they welcome in. Also watching that Mumford and Sons chap become a right wing mouthpiece has been interesting.

Also, I'm with Stewart Lee, Clarkson ws never the worst member of the original Top Gear gang, it was Hammond all the way.

I guess it’s not popular on here but I think the three of them are great. The Grand Tour is an excellent programme as was top gear in its prime.

Clarkson did an excellent documentary about PQ17. Some of his finest work. Clarkson’s farm was pretty brilliant too.
