But if we do go up this season just how many new signings will you think we want i’m thinking about 4 or 5 the game is a bit quicker in the championship and a little more skilful i’d also imagine a few of our players would be up for sale or loan.

I think we need to think of Ipswich as a squad, rather than a team. So the best players are going to remain and be a part of that squad. The ones on the edges need to be more concerned.

Eg, we keep Lapado, but TJJ returns to Arsenal and KJ leaves, gets less game time or we roll the dice. Which one it is depends on how well he does this season.

But I don't expect someone like Morsy to suddenly be moved on and we find ourselves with 22 new players. That would be stupid.

Not many IMO. Something like:

Back up keeper
CB - replacement for Keogh
Another striker

Could see TJJ back for another year as well.

Can't see too many who play a part in getting us up and are under contract being let go.

Truly impaired.

Agree with this. What I’ve seen of the Championship has hardly blown me away tbh. I reckon we’d do just fine.

I'm sure the club will prepare for both permutations. Nothing wrong with us discussing in such a vague way.

TBH, it's a little unnerving that you, specifically, are contemplating this. I have you down as a pessimist/realist! :) Whereas I tend to span the optimist/realist boundaries.

As we all do. The judgement is also nice. As it demonstrates that people who say what they see and can be more cautious are lining up with those that are more exuberant.

The judgment is not meant to cause offense, more to demonstrate that the middle ground is hopefully pointing to better times.

If I could improve our current squad, then perhaps a like for like Ladapo type player. If Freddy gets an injury, atm, we haven't got anyone that can play his role to the same level. Got a feeling our Hirst interest was based around this.
Maybe a mercurial type , also, in the AM area. Someone who can really pick a lock, in the same way Bannan does for Wednesday. Although we are getting better at breaking stubborn sides down. We have to put a lot of effort into it. I guess Cellina would have been a lot of peoples choice , pre season.
Feel bad about naming players to push out the door. The squad looks really united and together atm. All of them play a big part in that..
Interested to see what Camara brings, when he's fit. And I suppose with Keogh and Aluko, you might say their age will play a part in their futures at the club. But, even so. It's evident that they both add a lot to the squad. That level of experience and professionalism will be rubbing off on the others. And is a very, very, important thing to have in the building, imo.
Some of our squad are definitely improving month by month, too. Testament to KM and the coaching lads. So it remains to be seen, as to what levels they can reach by the end of this season. Players like Davis and Edwards are nowhere near their ceiling, for me. And I'll use Burgess as another example, of a player that's hit another level, before his injury. Someone, if I'm honest, I though might possibly be moved on in the summer. He's definitely proved me wrong , big time.
Too early to start replacing players for next season, for me. Current favorites can have a real dip in form, and likewise, others can improve and start impressing.
Worth noting, that KM will give those that work hard and display the right attitude. A fare crack at it. And there's a lot of season left to go, yet.

I don’t think we would need many. I would be very interested to see what sort of fees we would pay though. £2-3m perhaps?

Surely it would depend on the owners plan. To stay up perhaps not many. To push on a few more. I would imagine - If we can get ourselves in a good place, some of those recruits would be targeted in January.

It’s a higher standard, obviously, but I don’t thing the gap is anywhere near as much as Championship to PL. I think the way we play and the cohesive nature of the current squad means that if we can get out of this division we will do rather well. We need a better option up front though.

but absolutely another striker or two, because jackson could not

How highly rated is TJJ at arsenal? Do we think a permanent deal could be done if we get to the championship? He fits the mould of player that the club has tried to recruit so far but I don’t know if he’s out of our reach.

Thought McKennas comments on Dane Scarlett, recently, were interesting. I know he was trying to push back on Cowleys comments about the strength of our squad. But, at the same time. I think KM genuinely rates him. Wouldn't surprise me , if we had some loan interest in him, should we go up. Might be a good step for him , too.
I like TJJ. He's got something about him. Games like today, he may not shine in. But will certainly toughen him up. Great for him to be at club that's winning games of football, too. Quite often see a youngen get loaned out to a struggling team and have a tough time of it.
I think the current vibe around our club and the respect KM is earning atm. Will see us in a good position to attract more high end loans. Either in January, if needed. Or next season in the Championship (fingers crossed).

I think we would make a lot of signings. I’m not saying there aren’t a great number of players who would cut it in the championship but Gamechanger won’t want to take any chances that we could go back down again. They’ll want us firmly established in the championship next season in order to push on with their ultimate target of Ipswich being a premier League team.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

I’m thinking that it was a 5 year plan from start to finish was a couple of seasons in league one,two in the championship then the premiership,i might of dreamt that but i’m sure that was mentioned on take over .

If we could add one player to our current squad from another league one side, it would be Johnson Clarke-Harris for me. For all the improvements we have made, we're still not clinical enough. He would be absolutely lethal for us at this level.

Pure fantasy of course.

This season I just love watching how this team plays - absolutely brilliant. I feel that if we were suddenly dropped into the Championship we’d be ok as we are. That is why I really hope we get to the FA Cup third round and get a high end Championship at PR so that we can measure ourselves at that level. I would back us.
