France are in a familiar position of having a very strong squad, arguably the best despite the injuries to Pogba and Kante, but go into the tournament with several scandals hanging over them. Could be galvanised and go all the way or combust and crash out early.
Few if not none of the big European teams are going into it in good form, Brazil are strong and in-form but haven't faced particularly good sides for a while and no-one from Europe for ages, same with Argentina.
I'd be tempted to back Argentina though - Messi's back to his best and in a team that he's thriving in and it would crown a glorious career if he finally wins the trophy in what is likely his final tango. |  |
