Quality has gone downhill massively since I posted this! Turgid game, no atmosphere, top of the second division? Really?

Isn’t it nice that we no longer have 5 pagers regarding whether we were right or wrong to let him go, based largely on his surname? I wanted him to be a great success here but watching him now just makes me realise what an awful squad we had 2 years ago. He wouldn’t even make our bench now.

Player starting for a team in the play offs of the division above wouldn't even make our bench - it reminds me when all the fans were saying we had a better deal when we bought Rakeem Harper instead of him. Nothing was base don his surname, his surname didn't get him into England squads or a move to a good Championship side - I'd have assumed people would have realised that by now

Blimey Joe, your strange love-in with that squad of under-achieving blaggers knows no bounds. If you can tear yourself away from your mate and his league 2 failures at Layer Road, we’ve actually got a squad of players here now worthy of the name. They probably won’t share their woes in the pub toilet with you, but don’t let that discourage you..

A lot of people called it when he left here and they were right, Dozzell’s career is going to fizzle out and he’s not going to achieve what a player of his quality should - it’s as plain as day. He’s been an anonymous, ineffective bit part at QPR since he joined and will remain as much at every club he moves on to. For all his talent, he’s missing key attributes to truly shine.

He’s still starting fairly regularly for a side a whole division above us - that’s probably the limit of his potential now but it’s still better than anyone in our squad has done so far. Dozzell was bought in by QPR, played more regularly than Don Ball, who was subsequently released and has looked good for us at this level - but yet AD wouldn’t get on our bench? It’s laughable. AD never really recovered from that big injury, at that point he was going to the top - but shouldn’t be underestimated how impressive playing for an upwardly mobile Champ club is, and how far we’ve still got to go to get there.

Downes would have been an absolute star man under KMcs coaching. But he has that in him regards, as West Ham adore him

Dozzel would get in our squad, of course he would but my point is he won’t go any further than where he’s at now. Agree the injury was career changing for him.
Dozzell on 07:58 - Nov 3 with 3133 views | Metal_Hacker | For me personally I wanted AD to be THE Man perhaps because of his name and and reminiscing back to the glory days when I played football with and against his Dad as a teen.Truth be told I think that clouded my judgement . On his day AD could be quality before his injury and occasionally after but IMHO he lacks certain attributes to be the player I thought he as trying to be . Lacks pace and strength most notably and up against both Morsy and Evans I think he'd struggle to get in the starting XI - and that's without taking into account Camara and Humphreys and for the sake of the argument leaving out Ball. Could he play a number 10 role ? Not so sure he'd be any better than Harness or Chappers regardless of KMcK's coaching Long and short he just didn't do it for me as much as I REALLY wanted him to Good luck to the lad though obviously and I wish him all the best BUT he wasn't really ALL THAT

I like Dozzell, I was one of his biggest defenders on here. I also backed him to excel at QPR He hasn't been great though. I hear the same thing about him from all QPR fans I speak to, I work in West London so I know a few. "He doesn't impact games". He is normally the first sub off for them. He clearly has ability, there is no doubt about it. But he gets lost far too often and has to make a mark more.

He’d not get in our team ahead of Morsy and Evans. Whether KMc would find a position for him further up the pitch however, I’m unsure

Would have loved to have seen what he would have done with Teddy Bishop as well, but Downes under McKenna would have been an absolute dream - he's doing so well now at West Ham. Won't be long before he's knocking on door of England squad
