Interesting to see the Home Office being used by Suella Braverman to shut down the views of a Holocaust survivor. How low can she get?
This is an attempt to deflect the argument onto the fact that the whole of Braverman's response isn't included, when the real issue is that a Holocaust survivor objects to the language of "invasion", and Braverman isn't prepared to apologise for her use of those words.

EDIT: the charity itself has also questioned the Home Office action, which as a former civil servant seems extraordinary to me as Braverman was speaking at a meeting in her constituency, and so presumably not in her official capacity.
“I think that there are serious questions to answer....about whether it is appropriate for the Home Office to be using its corporate channels, including its Twitter channel, to be pressuring an NGO for sharing public comments that the Home Secretary has made”.
Anyway the good thing is that the Holocaust survivor has not been silenced.

Badger if you read what I said you would have noticed that 'None of them know how to conduct themselves' meaning none of them, get it? I am not supporting the Tories or Braverman, was pointing out the words that Starmer used, which I find offensive as did a lot of others. If however you think it is ok for the labour supporters to say offensive words and not get called out for it, then it is a strange world we live in.
I believe in the NHS and would be prepared to pay more in N.I. if it helps, however most want more for less, trouble is keyboard warriors have never been in a position to run a business so have no real idea how finances work, reading and writing about it is not the same as actually doing it. Going back to one of the points in my OP, namely, the Home Office role in this, and speaking as someone who worked in Whitehall from 1987 to 2011, it is clear to me that there has been an increasing politicisation of the civil service since I left.
The role of the civil service is to support government policy, which in this case is the Rwanda policy.
It is not, and should never be, the role of the civil service to support or defend the words a Minister uses to defend that policy, which in this is the word "invasion". Nor is it, or should it be, the role of the civil service to suppress criticism of language a minister uses in support of a policy. [Post edited 15 Jan 2023 21:36]

Braverman is using deliberately provocative language to engender hatred towards migrants. This is the same as the hatred stirred by Nazis towards Jews and a few others in the lead up to the Second World War. This is the direct observation of a Jew who lived through that experience. Having refused to apologise for this, Braverman doubled down on it and said it was necessary to do this.
How is that in any way comparable to using the term Kamikaze to describe the most destructive budget ever? |  |
