Working her way up the officiating pyramid. Good for her and I wish her every success.

Can't be any worse than any of the so-called 'experienced' dross we normally get officiating us.

The referee at Oxford has top tier Scotland and even international experience and didn't even know the time you could abandon the game without the result standing!

KM spoke a couple of months ago about Town games not being for inexperienced referees, that these are big games and often with big crowds. There is also a lot of sh1thousery in L1 and you need referees who are not going to be conned by players looking to buy time, fouls, bookings and so on.

This is not about gender, it is about suitability for this fixture.

MK v Town isn't exactly a big game, apart from to Town fans. Yes, there will be a large away following, making it a potentially more difficult game to referee. However, if a referee is to progress beyond League 1, they need to show they can handle these sort of games.
Some of our fans seem to think it's the referee's fault whenever Town don't win, although that's rarely the case.

In no particular order:
Barnsley (h) - Nothing wrong with Harness' goal.
Charlton (a) - Should have had a player sent off just before half-time.
Fleetwood (h) - Should have been a penalty immediately after we conceded.
Sheff Wed (h) - Should have been a red card for the elbow on Burns.
Sheff Wed (a) - Their second goal miles offside.
Lincoln (a) - Didn't give a penalty when there was three of the same offences they got a penalty for happening at the same time.

That's half a dozen games the ref cost us a win, no matter our own failings.

Barnsley and possibly Wednesday away are the only two there you can say the ref actually cost us the game though. Think if the ref isn't an idiot in the Barnsley game we hold that down from 3-1, and obviously Wednesday's equaliser was late so maybe they wouldn't have otherwise scored but they were properly putting the pressure on and might've done anyway.

With the others those events happened with too much time left in the game to say what would have happened and/or assume we'd score the penalty we would have had (which I think we all know is far away from a certainty).

Agree in general I think we've been on the wrong side of the random/lucky variables like ref decisions, deflected goals etc. more times that we have right which might have given us a few more points but not enough to say the refs have cost us top two by any means.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Fair play, hope she has a good game.

You have to get experience of bigger games at some point down the line. You can't play the 'she/he/they have never refed a big game before' card forever as there would never be any progression.

That Barnsley one still haunts me, that 3 point swing we should have on them would be nice right now.

I don't remember the Charlton incident but no way we can look past ourselves on that one, we didn't beat Lincoln with the man advantage after all.

The Charlton one was just before we took the lead for 1-0 - shot blocked off the line via deliberate handball.

Phwooar.

(runs away)

In all seriousness, good stuff and why not. No idea how experienced she is but I can't believe she can be worse than a load of the clown refs we've seen in L1 :)

On a slight tangent, maybe footballers won't be so aggressive and rude to female refs...

To be fair, Lincoln should have had a penalty in the first half for Donacien’s challenge before he gave their soft one.
I think he only gave theirs later because of that and the red card.
It takes a strong and good ref not to fall into the trap of evening things up to show they’re not biased.
It shouldn’t even be a consideration but I think a lot of lower league refs fall into that trap and end up giving decisions that they didn’t need to make.
The Lincoln penalty was a prime example. Once he made a fuss of it in the build-up, it was almost like he was then backed into a corner to give the pen.
But I bet he hasn’t given one that like since.

There was a female assistant referee who came on as sub away to Shrewsbury, can't remember if we ever had Sian Massey or not?

We've had female assistants fairly regularly, Amy Fearn comes to mind as Paul Jewell was misquoted about her failing to award us a penalty at Birmingham in 2012.

You missed the foul on Chaplin in the run-up to the first Plymouth goal down there!

Yes, and come to think of it, it was never a foul for the free-kick that lead to Portsmouth's first goal at their place.
