Zian Flemming 10:05 - May 22 with 3069 views | cressi | Don't be surprised if we are looking at him Dutch player 6 ft 1,technically good 15 goals as a second striker age 24 kind of player McKenna will improve won't be cheap cost Millwall 1.7 million. But will if we buy go up in value.
Zian Flemming on 10:09 - May 22 with 2995 views | tractorboy1978 | That's the kind of player we need to try and pick up and unearth from Europe this summer. See also Gustavo Hamer at Coventry. [Post edited 22 May 2023 10:10]

They are within the age bracket we'll be shopping in for the team but the main development focus will be Leif Davis / Harry Clarke type. You want to be selling around 23/24 generally.

Zian Flemming on 11:03 - May 22 with 2563 views | jayessess | In general it's hard to see us getting any players who have just had stand out seasons for established Championship teams. Multiple reasons for this: (a) Cost - Expensive, obviously. (b) Status gap - we're newly promoted, for agents and players we aren't automatically above Millwall in status, just because lots of people come watch us and we've got big backing. You're at a club that's doing well in the Championship, why move to another one that may or may not be stable in the division? (c) Return on investment - If you buy a player for the Championship who has already played well in the Championship, their value won't really increase by playing for you. After all, they'd already shown they were a good Championship player and you paid a fee reflecting that.

Zian Flemming on 11:09 - May 22 with 2513 views | SomethingBlue | Even allowing for a lavish spend this summer he would be out of our price range, and I believe there are bigger clubs circling — but we should definitely be looking abroad for the kind of deal Millwall got with him.

Precisely this. We're more likely to be looking at undervalued young Prem players than established Championship ones.

Flemming almost certainly won’t be a target however on the age point, our largest fee paid since Gamechanger came in is reportedly Broadhead, who was 24 at the time and turned 25 in April

For return on investment - you need players who can prove something by excelling in the Championship really. Young players at Premier League clubs without much first team football, players in overseas leagues with no experience of English football, any fringe player who's much better than their current club realises, anyone in League One or League Two who can cut it in a higher division, out of contract players in a career dip who you reckon you can rehab. Not every signing can or should be about making a profit - you need just as many players who come with a guarantee they can do the job - but I think the big bucks need to be spent with an eye on making a profit.

Agreed, we're not looking for wild punts, just players where there is potential coupled with good value and the possiblity of increasing that. After all, we need a team who can perform well in the Championship, as well as the opportunity of turning a profit down the line.

I do appreciate that re:Brodhead's age but would say that move was more in view of getting short term promotion than player trading profit. Although it is likely he will increase in value and does as a lot of untapped potential/value due to his injury record. If we can now sign the Broadhead's etc... a few years younger you are looking at a whole different ball park. So ot would only make sense for GC to lean in that direction.
Zian Flemming on 13:45 - May 22 with 1777 views | Exiled2Surrey | In my view, from all those months ago when we played (and could easily have beaten) Millwall in this season’s pre season friendly, the best quality player on the park was TJJ.

Maybe we could pay for him in Bonds? Or rather ZBonds. [Post edited 22 May 2023 14:00]
