I'm sure years a go a replica of the striped shirt was available to buy. It looked quite nice. Would be nice in 2028 to have an anniversary shirt for the 150 years. According to a few websites, we adopted the stripes between 1888 or 1890-1929 or 1936.

Part of the future Sereni deal, but Lazio pulled out, which meant they visited a replacement team instead?
Do I need to look in The Men Who Made the Town to verify this, or can I trust you? But seriously, we weren’t even a professional club in 1911. How did we end up visiting Prague for a European tour? The obvious link would be beer and brewing but were the Cobbolds even involved with the club back then?

We need to know more about this game/tour. How the team got there, why they went, etc.
Seems to have been three games in 1913. Not at home at the moment, but I'll have a look in The Men Who Made the Town later to see if there's anything on it.

Just noticed the caveat at the bottom of the page: "Whether the three games against Slavia Prague are Town games is questionable because only two players in the starting XI were from ITFC and the rest were guests."

Just went down a pride of anglia rabbithole from where we were playing the bank of england, midland bank and the grenadier guards just 40 years before winning the top flight.
Then onto a 3-2 Southern League win over Colchester in front of 23000 with a line up starting with:
1. Harry Sowerbutts 2. Frank Shufflebottom
TWTD!

We had more players in the 2 sides that played in Escape to Victory than that... does that get a listing in TMWMTT?

I particularly liked Vampires as an opponent, who turn out to be Crouch End Vampires, who still exist. They presumably have hopes Luis Suarez will finish his career with them.

Was going to say it’s not impossible that my great grandfather Joe Pinkney is in the picture somewhere. He was definitely playing for the town around that time. Pretty unlikely though if only 2 of them in the picture are not ‘guests’. Can’t say anyone I can see in the picture looks very much like pictures I’ve seen of him although one or 2 are not entirely dissimilar

What, 3 different versions of striped shirts? Or would you narrow it down to just one of them?
When you see team pictures from pre WW1, the players have several different shirts, presumably depending on age of said shirt and where they got it from.
I suspect there wasn't a ye olde Umbro or Edwardiadidas in those days and local dudes just made them to order. One size fits all shorts - huge! Boots that can double for work or going to war, hobnails n all. Socks woolly and stripey.
The old pictures are absolutely fascinating.
