Well I found this interesting anyway! 13:07 - Jun 1 with 2461 views | Asa | A lot of talk about how classic Championship the Championship looks next season. It really does. Plenty of teams that you look at and say they've pretty much been a second tier side for the bigger part of their history. So was shocked to find that only 8 of the teams we will face were in the same division as us when we got promoted in 1991/92 and just 6 of them were with us in 1999/00! SIX! Seems incredibly low numbers from 23 other sides when there are so many teams that have had a stint in League One, a stint in the top division of late, but you'd look at and say they were probably largely at this level over the last few decades. 1991/92 - Middlesbrough, Leicester, Blackburn, Watford, Millwall, Bristol City, Sunderland, Plymouth 1999/00 - Birmingham, Huddersfield, QPR, Blackburn, Norwich, West Brom [Post edited 1 Jun 2023 13:11]

Well I found this interesting anyway! on 13:18 - Jun 1 with 2366 views | burnbudgiesburn | Actually the championship gives me a very top flight vibe from the early 80's! If you include us, this seasons championship includes 10 of the teams who we played in our best ever season 80/81

Blimey. That's quite the stat that we faced more of next seasons teams in the division above in 80/81 than in this one in 91/92 or 99/00!

Good spot. I make it 11 for next season, not that it changes anything. Def a early 80s top flight vibe. In order of finishing position in 80/81: Ipswich, West Brom, Southampton, Leeds , Stoke, Birmingham, Middlesbrough, Coventry, Sunderland, Narwich, Leicester

And of course, the team of your home town finished 6th in the top flight a year later.

If you wind the modern age back to 1960 you can tack on a First Division Championship title to our list! You know it makes sense! Leeds would get a League title and a Fairs Cup but the rest? Zippo.

Better check your Southampton bit, unless you're aiming for 12th man tribute act 1976? [Post edited 1 Jun 2023 19:36]

Of the 23 teams in the old Second Division in 1992, 9 of them were in L1 with us last season: Derby, Cambridge, Charlton, Portsmouth, Bristol Rovers, Barnsley, Oxford, Plymouth, Port Vale. 6 of them were in the Championship 4 of them were in the PL Not sure what any of this means- maybe that the traditional order has been pushed down a bit by the newcomers who have come up the leagues? (Bournemouth, Fulham, Brentford, Burnley, Swansea, Hull etc. Probably more that a large amount of teams move around quite a lot...
Well I found this interesting anyway! on 07:30 - Jun 2 with 1261 views | ElephantintheRoom | It was ever thus. The vast majority have been in the Prem and think they belong there. Many have been in the third division and don’t think they belong there. Three up and three down creates churn - especially when mediocrity is encouraged via the play offs.
