Interesting article below, and I agree with them re cheap brands using appalling ingredients, by-products & fillers - just make sure you read the labels carefully if buying, & that the ingredients are decent ones - proper meat or fish which is responsibly sourced, potato or grains, veg or fruit, vits & mins, which together with broth add up to 100%.

Have done occasionally,but not since the price rocketed - & they often use more than one source of protein in the same can/pouch as well, which isn't good for canines' digestion. | |

Of course we can debate the quality of cheap commercial pet foods which in the main are pretty poor but cats are obligate carnivores so for me that article smacks of Vegan bias and straw clutching. All wild cats are carnivores so that really tells you all you need to know.
Any Vegan that tries to impose their belief system on a cat is mistreating the cat, simple as that.

Agree with you by & large. Even if plant-based food for cats has all the ingredients they need to thrive physically, the flavour, texture & enjoyment from food surely has to be factored in too - something you'd have thought vegans must take into consideration if they do actually have the animal's welfare as the highest priority. | |

Tried feeding our cat a change of food, he obviously didn't like it. Went out that night, which is unusual. On waking up in the morning found half eaten rabbit, a dead pigeon & a mouse minus its head. So I guess the cat put in a protest |  | | |

Cats can fend for themselves just fine. My cat is boss of the neighbourhood now. I love seeing her chase all the other cats about. She even goes into their gardens and terrorises them
My neighbour has a flat roof extension where her cat used to chill out. It's now my cats spot 😄 [Post edited 12 Jul 2023 22:41]
