Your stance on the selling of tickets via this forum? Will it now change?

Do we have to be a bit more wink wink nudge nudge.

No one has ever sold for more than face value on here, and all usually very fair, sometimes given away or sold cheaper than face value.

It’s been a bit more ‘loud’ so far this season but you will genuinely get the few pop up when people can’t make a game after thinking they could.

Sitters. Why don't you phrase your question like this.

"Phil, are you happy to turn a blind eye to posters selling tickets on the forum, at very reasonable prices? Or do you value your good relationship with the club more?"

Not sure really. I think there's a general acceptance that if fan A can't make it, then there's no real issue with them passing it on to fan B at face value, which is what's happened on here.

But obviously the situation which has developed since last season on social media where tickets are being openly resold on pretty much an industrial scale, even if not for any profit, is rather different and is what the club are aiming to deal with.

Interesting to hear the police getting in touch re. ticket touting. They’re a couple of years too late, don’t they know we’ve got new owners?

Your article states its illegal to resell match tickets so surely it can't be allowed on here. Agree in the past and even now that some do it with good intentions but unfortunately the greedy element of the fan base have ruined it for the rest.

So basically it's been ruined for the good people and proper fans by scummy elements?

It's a tricky one Phil.
Tickets have always been offered to fellow fans here. It's a friendly and safe place to do it and it's always been done with the best intentions.
However, the availability of tickets here these days has hugely increased and it possibly won't serve us well if the club strongly discourage it, yet we offer the platform to do it.
It will be interesting to see how this thread develops.
It will be a shame if genuine ticket holders can no longer offer them to fellow fans here.
Let's see what this new policy looks like and the expectations the club expects from ticket holders and go from there.
Post Lambert, it seems we're a well respected forum again and we would have to think hard before we jeopardised it again.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Someone said if the Police think the club don’t know who have tickets, they can request capacity to be reduced and away clubs can also introduce extra checks and capacity reductions.

The Police certainly wouldn’t react to fans moaning.

It's not really tricky at all if the club want everything to go through official channels.

I think that's probably right. The law is there to address an issue which isn't Fan B borrowing Fan A's ticket - even if technically illegal, there's little chance of prosecution - but wider abuse. However, presumably that would be ruled out as a result of the club's new policy, which is definitely required given the current situation.

I'm sure the police will have taken a keen interest in all the social media reselling. As you say, they - and presumably the Safety Advisory Group - would see it as a safety issue if tickets are being sold on to third parties in the manner they have been.

Well yes, but I think it's a bit more nuanced than that.
In the past the "I've bought 4 tix but my mate can't make it today" post here has always been ok and a good way for supporters to support each other.
Personally I would most likely support the clubs position, but then it comes to this place Policing itself to prevent the practice.
This is the point I'm making when I say it's tricky, especially for admin.

I don't disagree but if the club say official channels only then no one can expect TWTD to go against that.

As usual a minority have ruined things for everyone.

Yep. Sad, but a good turn in the wrong hands turns into a real safety issue for the club.

And the club will do all they can to protect income first and fans safety a close second.

Theoretically you can gift the ticket to a fellow fan and they're so happy they buy you all the match day beers etc ,all legal

A bit like the new stoppage time rules, I guess it’ll settle down after a few weeks and some balance will return.

The existing club policy already states that tickets shouldn’t be sold or passed on etc so it’s not as if we were allowed to do it until now. I expect the wording’s just being beefed up slightly so that the club are seen to take a tougher stance and it’s more of a deterrent.

We needed ID to match the name on the ticket to access Carrow Road several years ago. The risk has always been there, they just needed to do something now as it’s got silly this season with the issues that arose on other platforms and pressure from fans and elsewhere that it created.

It’s already working to an extent as I’ve seen posts deleted and certain accounts limiting who can view their posts etc.

All ticketing needs to be digital only then they can do the family grouping more easily as you can just have a preference and then it can auto allocate at a later date

If it were digital it would be easier to release a ticket back to the club so no need to sell it

Trouble is the club wont want people sitting on tickets then returning at last minute so not sure how to deal with that

The club told me you can pass your ticket over to anyone!(ie to family if I can’t make it) - the name doesn’t have to match the ticket. So is it only if you are selling the ticket it’s breaking the rules?
